I feel like the floor is probably higher with Gus, but the ceiling is also lower. Gus's history developing QB's is as bad as you can possibly get over a tenure as long as his, which would be a killer if that happened at State.

Personally, I would roll the dice with Napier and hope what he's done for ULL relative to their league and program's standing is not a fluke.

I agree 200% and its not even close, one of the best play callers, if not THE BEST, in the SEC in my honest opinion.

You should like Eli drinkwitz at app state then. He is Gus?s protege. Was with him at Springdale high as a 20 year old, then at auburn when Gus was OC, then at ark state with Gus. He is 36 and considered as a rising star. May be our coach in 2021

Gus. I can't believe this is a serious question

Gus has been a part of 4 Iron Bowl victories.

Gus with our roster in 2021 with Shrader at QB as a junior and Marks at RB as a sophomore would be a sweet combo to watch.

He'd be able to bring some dang good assistants with him too.

On another note, how long did this year's Iron Bowl victory buy Gus at Auburn? Is he right back on the hot seat at some point next season or does he ever even get off the hot seat with them?

Gus is way more proven. He's done something (multiple times) we can't do at all. Beat Bama.

This is like currently comparing apples and oranges in my opinion. 100% Malzahn.

Gus may be the best coach in the country when his back is against the wall and everyone wants him fired. Other than that, he is pretty average. Dan is probably a better coach overall, but Gus when he's getting worried may be the best.

Excellent point, and against more talent each time.

Gus (provided he still has Les Miles's Horseshoe)...

The perspective on this is very interesting. Over here in Birmingham none of the Auburn fans I know think very much of Gus's offensive play calling and scheme in general. The passing game is very short or long outside the numbers, nothing intermediate. Very few slants or anything over the middle. The offense has been a source of frustration for them his entire tenure, save 2013 and 2017.

Again, if we had endured the shit show they've had at QB, I know most on this board would be calling for his head on an annual basis the way they do.

Gus good coach and we wouldn't have to play him every year.
