I thought I read just a week or two ago they extended him, but then after the piss became an international embarrassment that shook their fake narrative up having so much class and culture they had to do something and firing Luke was it.

Strong buy. Two weeks ago they didnt have the buyout money.

Sell. He was fired because their window of opportunity opened up a year early with Moorhead remaining our head coach.

I think that was probably a large part of it. Combine that with poor record and it made it perfect time to cut ties.

Buy, it was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Sell. You don't pay $15+M to get rid of the whole staff as a punishment. If it's given as an excuse it's just for convenience as a reason to make a wholesale change.

100% buy. It was Hookers for Freeze and Moore being on the front page of every newspaper, website and sportscenter that got Luke. Most probably the final straw.

Buy. Their fake narrative is EVERYTHING to that school. With the hike of one leg that was all blown to hell and they know it. They will forever be known as "the school with the pissing football player" by the vast majority of the world now.

Strong buy. They've been taking too many image hits.

Buy all day. Perception is everything to that bunch.

They can't stand being ridiculed. Losing yes, ridicule no. They are like roaches when the lights come on when their warts are exposed.

HUGE buy. They CARE about the perception outsiders have of them perhaps more than anything. They can't stand to be laughed at outside the state of Mississippi. There are people world wide who had never heard of them before that have now. It's killing them. I have never seen their fans so quiet, even after we have beaten them in previous years.

That is what happened.

He was fired for being 6-18 in the Sec. that is an average of two win per season.

Buy. THe OM coaching staff was supposed to not let something like this happen. The players were supposed to be schooled on not doing any type of celebration or other words anything stupid. This was the the second time (Metcallf) this had happened under Luke's purview, and OM did not want anything negative to happen in this year's Egg Bowl by their coaches or players. Then Moore's stupid act went world wide with negative publicity and boom!

So if we had properly defended 4th and 24 and won 21-14 instead of 21-20 Luke would still be their head coach today.

I think he would be. The Piss and the Miss was the final straw, without it he would still be smelling farts in Oxford.

Buy but I would add that I think the half hearted apology where he didn't apologize to MSU was the last shred on the final straw.

I think Sankey was serious about toning down the Egg Bowl "toxicity" and we did our part. Ole Miss did until the last minute.

Sell, but it is a convenient excuse for a change from what they saw as a place holder.

But if that's the case why announce that he is staying a week or two before the Egg Bowl?

Also he was 0-2 against Moorhead who everyone knows is not good. That don't set well with them as I'd expect. Beating CDM was enough to get you the job. Lose two in a row to JM; if you can't out coach JM where do you go from here?

Because Mr. Nutt hadn't told the new admin what to do yet.

Big Time Buy. Ole Miss Faithful that I ran in to this weekend were totally quiet. They do not like being the brunt of a joke and the pissy way that game ended was just to much for them to bare. it will be around forever, but they will soften the blow by saying they took care of the problem.

It sure didn't help. There is talk of Luke having knowledge of the players intentions to do the leg hike if he got the chance and that luke admitted such to Carter post game. wild stuff

Did y'all see that Luke was in a recruit's Livingroom when the news broke? How Ole Miss is THAT? Sports Illustrated has already taken a shot at them over that.

Same here, I ran into some that normally would have said something win or lose. They never said one word.

Maybe ESPN can now distinguish between the two Mississippi schools!

Whether that was the sole reason or not we might never fully know, but pile that onto all the other things that have happened over the last two years and it was too much to overcome.
