I was looking at our rods and reels the other day. I've got to respool 8 inshore reels this winter. I've been wanting to switch to braid full time but my dad isn't a huge braid fan and the price tag for 8 reels sucks. I've been doing a bunch of research and I'm leaning toward buying a big spool of Ande backcountry. Any other suggestions or opinions are welcomed.

mono is like older guys - the more limp the better ... always preferred stren unless I'm loading about 500-600 yds worth, then it's whatever is on the feeder spool @ bass pro

I'm looking at the Ande backcountry as well. Great reviews and not expensive either.

I've read good reviews and they say they have over 1,800 IGFA world records (http://www.andemonofilament.com/records.php) so I figure it couldn't suck. As Fish said (LOL btw), my main concern is the line knotting up when casting b/c we use spinning reels exclusively. Big Game is good for the price but that is a concern. I'm going to look at what Barking13 suggested, haven't read much on those.

The only mono I will use is Trilene Big Game with the 15 lb being my most versatile strength. I use that exclusively for reds and specks, although I may drop down to 10 or 12 lb for purely speck fishing.

For all mono on my bait casters I use Big Game. For spinning rods I use Trilene XL Smooth Casting. I'll even use the smooth casting on my crankbaits periodically. It's not as tough, but it casts very well on a spinning outfit.

You're right BeastMan, Big Game does have some memory to it. But that stuff is tough as a nickel steak. I rarely use spinning equipment except for drop shotting/shaky head bass tactics, but I could see where Big Game would not necessarily be the best option for spinning reels.

If you're a live bait fisher it's fine. We do use live bait but I'm getting more into artificial which in turns means more casting. We have a few big set ups that big game is perfect for. I'm looking for the right mix of smooth casting, strength, & value. I appreciate everyone's insight. I'm going to look into all these mentioned before I make a buy

I'm like Beast, I exclusively use spinning outfits so casting knots are of great concern to me. While the big game may be great for spinning the memory issue bothers me, especially since I use artificial lures most of the time. Maybe I now have an excuse to buy a couple of more outfits and dedicate them to live bait fishing. :D

Izorline XXX or Platinum

I like big game also.. I've tried them all. Stren, Trilene XL, XT, BPS Excel (decent, same mfr. as XT) Suffix, Vicious, silver thread (AN-40 is good if you can find it), etc. etc.

Izorline is the strongest, limpest, non abrasive, right amount of stretch, low memory, high knot strength line I've found. If not using this line, it's flouro on the other rigs. I have 6, 8, 12, 15, and 20 lb test...

Barking 13, I'm going to try the Izorline now. So, if I start busting tournament fish off, it'll be your fault. I'll keep a tally and send you a bill. Thanks for the input.

BTW, I was kidding 13. I am going to try the Izorline though. I also need you to show me where to catch those big smallies at Pickwick.
