Yeah defensive minded coaches seem to flop at higher rates than offensive guys do. My guess is offensive identity is harder to instill and carry on over time if you have to rely on an OC to do it, but defensive identity can be picked up from a DC easily. See Grantham.

Why would Cohen try to "keep him around"? What is he possibly seeing that implies we're as well coached as other SEC teams, and why would he be willing to support Joe against the vast majority of fans boosters, and presumably his own president? The only explanation I see for him being here is that either A) Cohen really is going ot bat for Joe based on their personal friendship, or 2) the VS's want him to stay and Cohen is loyal to them and so is doing their bidding.
