View Full Version : If Joe leaves, why would Shrader follow?

I keep seeing this narrative thrown around and people fearful of losing him. I don't see how he would want to follow this guy after a year up close and personal of him refusing to start Shrader for whatever reasons. If Shrader were to go anywhere it wouldn't be with Joe imo and I don't see a better scenario for him available unless we just absolutely bomb the hiring of a new coach.

The only path I could see him doing is juco then take the highest bidder for year 3, but he's probably gonna start here unless KT has made a giant leap in accuracy that we haven't been privy to seeing.

Yeah I don't buy this either. He has a chance to be starting at a SEC school next year.

After the way Joe has treated him this year with Stevens- I'm not worried about him following Joe AT ALL.

If joe leaves, then joe has to have a job to follow. Now I'm sure he will eventually get one(which helps our buyout) but it's not like he has a gig already. Or will, unless Rutgers jumps. Which would be great.

Shrader would be a stud in Huds offense. He would be a heisman candidate

Hold your horses now. Getting way ahead of yourself there.

I think convincing Shrader to stay is not going to be too hard. However, if he thinks his fortunes lie with Moorhead then so be it. We'll be fine.

Shrader has a lot of growing up to do. Playing qb isn't all physical. Takes work.

ISID nailed it. I feel confident in saying that he wouldn't follow JoMo if JoMo were to leave/get fired.

Our current coaching staff doesn’t seem to have the ability to lead in this area....

I dont care who stays or goes, just want a change to be made. It is more of a rebuild now anyway.

Look for Mullen to be the first call if he enters the transfer portal.

And???..... Mullen would be wise to do that if he actually did.

So would many other coaches I would imagine. It's not hard to see the potential that's there to work with.

He wouldn’t.

Oh I agree he wouldn't. I don't think he needs to.

Don't even see why you would bring Mullen up other than him still occupying some of our fans domes for some reason.

Schrader came here because of Joe. He may not leave if Joe goes, but he has zero ties here if he does. He could transfer and have four to play three. It's a definite danger.

Correct..
and another note we weren’t even on GS radar till Joe got here. He came here because of Joe
I don’t think he enters the portal but I would be shocked if he did.

Of he could staty and be starting QB for an SEC team. depending on what coach comes in he could get us back to prominence in a year or two.

I personally think it's much more likely Shrader stays than goes. But would it be a surprise if he followed Jughead to Rutgers, assuming that's what happens? Not really, considering he followed him here after planning to go to PSU. That said, I'm really not expecting it. The bigger problem is that we won't have a scholarship QB to back him up next year. We'll have to go the transfer route to get one, barring Key or Moose unexpectedly stay.

JoMo promised Schrader to pay for his next trim and wax. **

I think it entirely depends on who we get to replace Moorhead.
