If the fall pitching rotation is any indication, it looks like our spring rotation might be Hudson, Woody, and Fitts. Maybe it means nothing and some guys just need more work than others.

Britton has showed up ready to play. He has been punishing the baseball.

Several of the new guys are making a lot of noise in the scrimmages. It's exciting to think about the future.

That's what I'm hearing too. I haven't been to any practices and scrimmages but that's what I've heard from people who do. Armstrong has been wearing it out too. It's no foregone conclusion that the OF will consist of Henderson, Bradford and Robson. Also appears that Humphreys is going to force himself into the lineup.

"Rotation" may very well be loosely defined by our strategy.

Armstrong has great speed. Would be nice to have him running the bases. Let him hit 8 or 9 and have that extra lead off man.

I wouldn't place too much on what happens in the fall. The coaches don't rely on the "fallamerican" numbers. But the rotation will really not be set until SEC play. they will be trying a lot of things early in the season.

With his speed he could actually be a great lead off guy if he can hit for average or keep a high OBP in front of Detz and Pirtle.

A coaching staff member told me last Saturday night that Armstrong would be batting 9 if the season started today.

We have smart coaches.

I like that lineup, even with guys like Hann, Robson, Henderson, the backup catchers, etc. on the bench. With our depth, we'll simply have to sit some good players.

Great problem to have. Forces everyone to hustle/compete on EVERY play or risk the bench.

I thought I just saw on Jean's that Vickerson was only batting .175 or so for the entire Fall.
Does he have a great glove and arm?

Jean baseball stats are nothing compared to what I provide.

Vick has 9 walks this fall (27%) and is sporting a .211 BABIP (EXTREMELY small sample)

.424 on-base percentage

xWOBA is .366 which is 8th on the team currently this fall.

His approach at the plate has been excellent and his D and baserunning will be positives.

Yeah, but he's also drawn 10 free bases in 34 plate appearances (.412 OBP) while putting the ball in play on a regular basis. BA doesn't tell the whole story.

Wes Rea is only hitting .154, but everyone can see that he will probably be better this year than he was last year.

Even worse Gene's stats are out of order making it hard to read them.

Rea has had two HRs robbed this fall, including a would-be walk-off.

What is Cohen's philosophy or approach towards fall ball? Is it more about getting the new guys reps and letting the veterans rest a little more? Is it about trying to work on weaknesses?

I know there is more to it than just going out and playing scrimmages. I have just never heard Cohen explain his approach to fall ball.

You definitely have to think about them for a second. Who uses .3 and .7 (or .67) when talking about 1/3 and 2/3 of innings? That's insane.
