I'm not sure why any non-blue blood would be against this.

The only people who support nine conference games are people who hate the SEC and want us to beat up on each other so THEY have a better chance. Scholarships won't matter once the new pay rule kicks in. All 500 walkons at Bama and Norte Dame will make money gong to school even if they have to pay their own way.

He's spot on. Reason people didn't care about how long Red Sox Yankees games went on was because it was must watch tv.

Lower the limit of scholarships, and I would be fine with 80 or 85, let kids actually have a chance to play and develop as players, and lets see what happens. Teams like Bama can sit talented kids for 3-4 years and they never get to play or develop.

This will never happen though. There's too much money by all involved in the blue bloods maintaining power. Clemson found the magic sauce to break the mold and Washington a little but no one else really has.

Programs like USC and FSU are going to get every chance imaginable to showcase their new coaches in the hopes of them elevating themselves back to elite status. Helps everyone getting money when those fan bases are engaged.

I would not be shocked if years down the road we hear that folks at ESPN and Disney were involved in steering certain coaches to certain places.

Straw man.

Oooh, that will show me. What a substantial argument you made.

your arguments are so bad, it's hard to write a response. You think a large number of walk ons are going to receive substantial endorsement money from businesses? That's a straw man argument against a real solution to the imbalance in college football.

spread the talent

Unfortunately, paying college players for their name and likeness is just going to do even more to concentrate the talent among the few elite programs.

No, only at a few places. It won't be 500, I was exaggerating for effect, but Norte Dame will be the prime beneficiary of this. The other blue bloods won't be far behind. If you want to see what it's going to look like at look at European Soccer. Our pro leagues are all about artificial parity, socialism basically. Those socialists across the pond are pure capitalists when it comes to sport. There are VERY few teams that can actually aspire to win anything at the top level over there. Thank goodness Liverpool, thanks to some good old fashioned American Capitalism, is actually rejoining those ranks. It's hard to compete with Arab and Russian oil, but we are doing it.

Agree. But it doesn't look like the powers to be are interested in parody in college sports. They like keeping the blue bloods in the drivers seat.

That's the way I see it. Big money will eventually destroy the college game, to the point radical change is made. In 10-15 more years of this, I'll be ready for it to go.
