Question about special team technique

Re-watching the Arky game this evening and noticed on Arky's first punt (11:00 1st qtr) our four linebackers made no attempt to block Arky's coverage guys. No bump and run, no attempt to establish a wall, nothing. Our corners ( L1&R1) did attempt to block their bullets from coverage. Five Arky players ran straight down the middle of the field untouched and not a white shirt anywhere. Our punt returner had no chance. What's the deal with our LBs not getting involved in the play?

Perhaps they were playing punt safe in case of a fake?

That's what I was thinking when I watched the game.
