I think Davis being the best LB in the NFL is a longggg shot but great write up. Minshew is gonna be fun to follow

He is playing like it at the moment. I consider him to be in the top 5.

Was Minshew overlooked?

He was an extremely well known player in the state & attended 4 different colleges. NWCC, Troy, East Carolina, Wazzu

Maybe he just got better or just proved his worth at every level.

Not sure I'd call him overlooked.

Naw he wasn't. He walked on at Troy out of HS.

We also overlooked him because he didn’t fit our system. Minchew in our offense last year will always be a big “what if” for me.

Minshew also played backup at Alabama and was going to go into coaching until the pirate snatched him.

Yeah I can't imagine Minshew running into the teeth of a defense as often as Relf, Dak and Fitz did. They were big strong players and still got dinged up. Minshew is a heck of a passer and QB but wouldn't have been a good fit for Dans offense. You have the right players to run your offense.

He wasn't a great fit, but wouldn't Tyson Lee be a comparable QB? Obviously Lee didn't have the same ceiling as Minshew, but games are similar.

Dan didn't recruit Tyson, he was stuck with Tyson and if you remember by the end of that year Relf was playing most of the snaps.

ETA Dan's offense is built around a running QB. The offense wasn't nearly as effective with Lee or when he tried to run it using Tyler Russell. Tebow, Dak, Fitz much better fits for his offense.
