As much as I am against letting Moorhead go and I want him to succeed at Miss. State. This article is spot on. Unfortunately it puts our fan base as a bad look but very truthful.

Typical nonsense from that site. And, where in the article was the fan base given the bad look?

It’s not the losing and going 6-6 that has everyone mad. It’s how we’ve looked doing it. Remember how awful 2008 looked offensively? Remember 45-0?

Wow we've never finished last in the west lol! Based on that we're consistently middle of the pack since 92. That's way better than we were before that but we've got to figure out how to hit that next level up.

There wasn’t always 7 teams in the west. 09, 08, 06, 04, 03, 02, 01, 95, and 93 were all last places.

Yes you're correct. I shouldve know better. That's what happens when you get old, you forget things like that.

Football Scoop and Coaching Search are run by Ole Miss graduates and never miss a chance to put down Mississippi State. There is no reason to ever read or link to anything they say.

93 was 26 17n years ago. It does not matter.

Where did I say it did? I only listed the last place finishes we had in division because cc24 forgot we added a team to te division.

Where are they getting 6-6 from? We may very well end up 6-6 but odds are higher that we go 7-5.

At any rate the truth is if Joe goes 6-6 this year and next I doubt we fire him. Just like we didn't fire Dan for going 6-6 even though as "great" as he was we still had some fans that wanted him fired.

In ‘93 we finished ahead of LSU (3-4-1 vs 3-5). May be due to Bama’s forfeits that year. We beat OM 20-13 by over loading the OL and running Michael Davis what seemed like 50 times. JWS and Arians flat out coached OM.

Don’t think we finished last in ‘93.

We went 2-5-1. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/conferences/sec/1993.html

Interesting--State has NEVER finished 7th in the SEC West. Auburn has twice, OM once, and Arkansas four times.

And there have been no ties for 6th and 7th place, the 7th place team has always finished at least one game behind 6th. Not counting vacated win seasons, of course.

All that article says is MSU should know its place and no good coach should ever come to MSU because its a low level SEC school that will never be any better.

Our fan base deserves better than this every year.

There is no doubt we've seen more articles related to this one about our school than any other school

Did Zach Barnett (the author) play football at OM? I don't remember that he did, but anything that comes off that crap site is going to be negative toward MSU. You can bet the house on that.

That is the truth. As much as people don't want to believe it, that's the truth. Fans want to fire Moorhead but are you ready to go back to the Croom year's? That's where we are headed if you fire a coach after
2 years. We will be the next Tennessee.

Notice how they didn't mention only 5 sec teams have been to bowl games for the last 9 years. For the last decade based on our record we are in the upper half of the sec. We are a solid program and much better than that article portrays us. Football scoop is not our friend.

In what way?

We're not firing Moorhead for two 6-6 seasons.

And there is zero chance that Moorhead is going to Rutgers. Because it makes ZERO sense. Unless he wants a massive pay cut.

This is a typical Ole Miss distraction piece because we're about to get Xavier Hill to commit.

More anti-MSU propaganda from the sports journalism world trying to make it sound like they aren't patronizing the program directly. According to the media, we are, have been, and will be the only SEC west program that is handicapped against "giants."

I googled him and it says he went to UT Austin and got a degree in History and he did some post grad work at Univ. of North Texas. I'm sure he's the beard for the om owners.

You think we're firing him after he goes 6-6 two years in a row? If that even happens?

Yep, total garbage. Hey football scoop, its NOT 1990 anymore! All it would take to succeed in a big way at MSU would be someone who can recruit like JoMo and coach like Mullen. I'm still hoping that Moorhead's coaching and his ability to organize and put discipline into a program as a HC improves. I knew Mullen never had any interest in getting better at recruiting.

We never really have had a coach that could put it all together. We need someone that can recruit, win the ones he's supposed to 95% of the time, and upset people 25% of the time. While I was impressed with Dan's player development I always felt like he was very average as a coach. Which is why he rarely beat anyone with more talent.
