I?ve been stewing thinking about this game and his tenure in general and what the issue is. The design works. The system can look really good. The problems occur when doesn?t have the pieces to run his offense.

Nick Fitz: Didn?t have the brains
Tommy: Injured
Shrader: Too young
WRs: Too many drops
2018 Tackles: Can?t block edge rushers

What would a normal coach do? Adjust. He did it for one game against Auburn in 2018. Then quickly abandoned that. Nick Fitz O should have simplified the playcalling and told him when to run or pass. Take his brain out of it because it?s not there. A good coach adjusts. That offense should have been a three headed monster of rushing with Fitz, Aeris and Kylin.

Shrader was struggling to read the defense but doing well running the ball. Kylin was motoring the ball today. But JoMo doesn?t pound the run. He kept inserting pass concepts into there. Sometimes you gotta not care what you read. You?re in the SEC. You have a top flight running back. You have a true freshman QB. You have receivers making drops all day. It?s 3rd and 2. RTGDFB.

Kentucky last year. Beat us off the edge every play. Smart coach sets his tackles out a half step wider than normal and runs right up the middle with one of your bulldozing runners.

I get it. JoMo?s system looks like it can be very effective when executed correctly. It?s only year 2. His offense doesn?t have it?s not best pieces yet. He gets 1 QB that can run the system effectively and knows it. We all see the potential there. Yes Joe, we see it. But we also see that he got injured and the true freshman simply isn?t ready for that system. Yes, he?s talented. Yes, he will be good in a couple years time. Simplify it for him and lean on your talent. Shrader didn?t have WRs that helped him either.

Lastly, the S&C of this team is awful. Injuries are freak accidents but the amount we?ve had is telling. The 4th Qs have been putrid.

If JoMo wants to survive in the sec these next two seasons he needs to fit his playcalling to his talent available, not the other way around. The system is very good and one could see where it can compete with a 2 deep that knows it. We don?t have that though. Until we get that he needs to play to what he has not what he wants.
