Per the interwebs. Does he contribute at all?

I think unless Hill or Gibson gets pretty seriously injured the question is why would you want him to contribute this year? Or would he be a game changer for us without serious injury?

He is WAY more valuable next year than this year unless injuries become an issue

Redshirt him unless you need to use him to keep a redshirt for Lee W.

Horka tweeted that he hasn't participated with the team at all prior to now, so I'm guessing he's too far behind to be able to contribute this year.

He redshirted at Michigan, he only has 2 years to play 2.

Let him practice at outside LB*. We need speed at that position badly.

No way I'm playing Walker over Witherspoon.

Awesome! If a guy like that can grab a touch or two in the 4th qtr and possibly take it to the house... bring him on!

Guess it depends but unless Hill or Gibson goes down, no reason to not redshirt Lee. If Walker can't redshirt anymore then play him. Lee is one of our future backs at least at the moment. Walker only has one after this year. Lee still can get some good minutes in 3 more games and redshirt.

First, walker isn't better than lee. Second, by the time walker learns what's going on, lee will have already played in too many games. Third, lee is better Han walker. Again, walker is a warm body.

I'm not worried about Lee RS. We've rarely had a problem getting quality RB & I don't think it starts.

Walker is low risk high reward. Worst case scenario he flunks out of school again. Best case scenario he is part of a 1-2 punch with Witherspoon and is a productive back.

He'd be 3rd at best next year. Marks is in the 2 deep next year regardless of who comes back.

That's a positive way to see it for sure. And as far as needing a body next year yeah. But if it gets to in we are in deep shit

That's a good thing IMO. It means we have a lot of talent at RB.

There alot of wasted schorships on every team. Hell we got nine right now from tutor gate.

We don't know that yet.

Here is what we do know:

Kareem graduated form HS in Dec. 2015 and enrolled at Michigan in Jan. 2016

He RS his freshman year 2016

In 2017 he rushed 20 times for 68 yds. - 3.4 yds/carry

In 2018, Now at Fort Scott CC, he rushed 64 times for 207 yds - 3.2 yds/carry (third best on team)

In 2019, Finally graduating from JC, 3.5 years after HS, he is at MSU in September and is unlikely to see the field in 2019

In 2020 he will be on his final year of eligiblity and likey as the 3rd or forth string back

......I think we could have done better

Well we have had a wasted scholarship at RB now for I think 4 years... if Walker doesn’t pan out to help next year at least it won’t be a 5 year plan...

somebodyshotmypaw

It's not always a wasted scholarship just because a guy doesn't play. Sometimes they are signed to hedge against injuries that you hope never happen. For instance, in a perfect world, Kylin Hill carries the ball 25 times per game during both 2019 and 2020 and you don't need Walker. But you have to be prepared for a running back getting injured or leaving early for the NFL. I think the staff just felt like they needed to find a JUCO back. It's only a two-year commitment anyway.

Walker isn't needed. But if Hill gets hurt, things change in a hurry. For instance I promise that NFL teams hope that their backup QB is wasted roster spot. They hope they never need them, but you have to be prepared. Walker was a two-year insurance policy while we get the running back classes balanced. Having Gibson and Hill (possibly) in their final season while Witherspoon is a true freshman is bad balance.

Well then, who would you have targeted for a scholly?

I would have cut him loose when it was obvious he wasn't going to be here in time for fall camp.....he isn't going to play this year.....then I would have picked up Ragsdale who I know could be a contributor in 2020.....we may pick up Ragsdale anyway since Walker continues to be a question mark

He had already signed his scholarship by the time you saw that. You can't cut a kid after he'd signed his scholarship papers.

So you are saying that in February we couldn't adequately evaluate how much coursework was going to be required for him to finish in May? If that's the case someone isn't doing their job. Not only did he not finish in May it took him the entire summer to finish. A careful evaluation of his situation in February would have freed up that scholarship for someone who was willing to do the work and ultimately contribute.

No I'm saying in February he only had a few classes left to finish to get out in May. Kareem didn't do his part. It's not like he had a bunch of work to do. He just didn't do it.

well at least he's consistent....he likely never sees the field in maroon and white
