I don't know that there's a very long line of programs interested in playing Alabama and I think they were fortunate to schedule USC, Michigan, Clemson, FSU (2x), L'ville, Wisconsin, Va Tech (2x), Penn State (2x), etc over the last several years... Few, if any, SEC programs have played Reg. Season OOC teams like that.

That being said, I do know that Saban is the only (or one of the very few) sec coaches to rail for tougher scheduling...

Hate on Saban and Bammer all ya want... And I get that... But "scheduling" is NOT the hill ya wanna die on defending...

I doubt he's scared. He just understands that the team that wins the SEC gets into the CFPs. Whoever you played OOC doesn't help you. Is your goal to prove you aren't scared or win a NC?

But goes to prove the point that Saban is talking out of both sides of his mouth. He wants a stronger schedule, but doesn't want to do a home and away agreement with another school. He'd rather do neutral field games with OOC opponents. It will be 9 years since he cancelled on Michigan State and when he has to pack up the plane and take the boys to Austin.

I don't disagree with his thoughts, but he doesn't need to be the one carrying this torch.

I dunno, buddy... He wants a 9-10 game conference schedule and none of the G5 stuff... Regarding neutral field "Kick off Classic" type games, he fired that up pretty quickly once he got to bammer... and now Bammer is scheduling Home & Home series...

I've yet to see a lot of evidence of anyone regularly scheduling difficult "home & home" games... certainly out of the SECW...

The fact is, Bammer could have the schedule below, and peeps would still be upset when they went 10-2, won the SECC, backed their way into and won the CFP...

Whatever Tusk. I know in your world, MDL does no wrong but as he was building the program back up he wanted no part of tough schedules. Now that he's won multiple rings and the best horses at each position, he's all about competition. He's just setting up his successor to be at a disadvantage and have a harder road than he did.

LSU people on the whole are the most lying, morally corrupt, backstabbing, sucker punching and just generally untrustworthy . I seen one get up and point his middle finger at a little kid in an Auburn jersey one time. Little guy ran to the other side of the restaurant to his mother crying That incident sums them up as a whole.

Saban basically hand picks his roster which means he always has the deepest team but there are still one or two SEC teams each year that threaten his path to the playoffs. He figures if a tougher schedule is mandated it may help eliminate those one or two each year. Everything Saban does or wants done is for the benefit of Bama. It's not because he's some kind of college football purist.

I believe one of the teams that wanted a home and home with Alabama was UCF, and I don't blame Saban for not doing that. It would be kinda like us doing a home and home with South Alabama, and we wouldn't do that, would we?? **

Yep - Kirby got balls Saban don’t- he whines no one wants to agree on home/home (on Bama terms). Yet dabo will play anyone anywhere anytime. Saban gotta protect his paper players. Similar to when his puss DL couldn’t handle no huddle all game

There is a difference between neutral sites and home & home. The topic has been scheduling home & home.

The only road P5 games that have been played by Bama under Saban were Duke in 2010 & PSU 2011. Duke was a return game from '06, and PSU a return game from '10 - both contracted prior to Saban's arrival. Saban is being forced to do it now because its the only way Bama can get a P5 game.

We haven't been much better - with only h & h with WVU, GT and BYU. But, we have been doing 2 for 1 and some home and home with a slew of G5 schools - which I think is good because it gives us early road tests before the SEC schedule kicks in.
