2019 Solo tackles 61 assisted 2 TFL 2.0

Appears to me that we are not attacking the ball but playing slow and one-on-one. State is known for aggressive ball on D, this ain't it. Is that a good assumption?

We created zero penetration up front... that about covers it. Blitz no blitz. It's who we are for now.

The defense has problems,but they gained half their yards after we went up 35-14. I hope we can get things fixed by the uk game.

We rarely blitzed. Tackles were made down field. Or, they changed the tackling stat.

You just have to look at recruiting. In the 2015, 2016, and 2017 recruiting classes we have a grand total of 2 DT's still on the roster. James Jackson (who's better suited for O-line) and Kendall Jones (who's had an injury prone career). And unfortunately we were not able to overcome this class imbalance with either Juco's or Grad Transfers. It's a personnel problem.

I do think Shoop is going to have to bring a lot more pressure going forward with Landrews and Cole...and Willie when he's available.

He also lost Simmons, Cory Thomas, Hoyette, Autry, and Tre Brown occupying blockers in front of him. And he lost Sweat and Green applying pressure. Thompson has never been a sideline to sideline LB. Also, Abram erased so many plays from SS.

I feel like that's got to be at least a small part of it. Even being less aggressive and down bodies, that's an insane difference if the way it's figured hasn't changed.

We've lost a lot more on defense than 3 first rounders..... Luckily, next week should help them adjust, but I think we're gonna give up a lot of points this season.

We avoided contact, and did it a lot. We seemed to have no anticipation, which resulted in a lot of reaching and missing. Slow on our feet and generally soft.
