A story about ticket sales for the ULL - MSU game in a local newspaper indicates that ULL was allocated approximately 41,000 tickets in sections 100-200-300 in the Superdome for this weekend's game against the dawgs. As of this past Friday afternoon the ULL ticket office had sold 14,000 tickets. The story states that ULL will take a financial bath if they don't have a huge walk-up crowd as they are responsible for the rental of the Superdome and associated expenses. By comparison, they received $500K from us for visiting DWS.

Given this situation, how is it that back in May-June when I was looking for tickets on Stubhub, Ticketmaster and other ticket sites for section 100 - 200 seats they were all listed at $150 -$500. Only section 300 end zone were available under a $100. If the tickets were allocated to ULL who was setting the scalper prices?

The ticket prices for the game have been absurd

I hope they do take a huge hit.

I hope they do take a huge hit. They could have played at Davis Wade and made money on the deal. Plus we could have had one more home game. Seems like a no brainer.

Tickets all over the joint on stubhub for $25 now. I would have bought 7 of those when I was looking and hotels were reasonably cheap. Now the hotel options are limited and I've got other plans.

Don't know if I just was looking in the wrong place, but I think they were listed for something like $60 at the cheapest then and for awful seats. If they were holding tickets at $60, then 17 em, I hope they do take a bath.

We bought tickets for $20 each almost 3 months ago....

Stubhub is a scalpers Haven now. The prices are always ridiculous on there and not a good indicator of the market until a few days before kickoff.

Then stubhubs fees are ridiculous

I purchased them through the school for I believe 45 or 55 dollars and we have great seats right behind the bench. I know some wish we had this as a home game, but with a newborn this is perfect for my family as we live on the MS Coast and I did not foresee making it to Starkville this season.

I think 40K is a good over/under for attendance. Certainly wouldn't expect much more than that total, and if I had to bet on it I'd take the under. I expect both schools to have 15-20K fans there with us having roughly a 60/40 advantage since it sounds like we have a lot of South MS Dogs making the trip down. But the building is going to be nowhere near full and ticket prices have been way more than what they're worth. You can probably walk up to a scalper outside the Dome on Saturday and get them very cheap.

The games like this make sense for the coastal fan base we’re trying to help maintain and grow. The allotment amount is the issue. Should have allotted way less to ULL and more to us to help drive ticket sales up.

We packed out Mobile in 2014 and Hattiesburg in 2015. Ruston in 2017 was ehh. Not sure how that was allotted and that seems a bit out of our footprint. A NOLA game however should be a good gathering. But keeping 41k tickets for themselves is severely overestimating their fan base.

I'm surprised that they ever thought that ULL would have 40,000 people show up, or even have that many fans. Isn't LSU about the only game in the state of Louisiana?

Was their 41K about thinking they could get that many, or about trying to put a limit on our attendance?

I think it was a marketing attempt by ULL to get their fan base energized for this season. On a big time stage like the Superdome it will take selling 35-40K tickets to make financial sense for them. Unfortunately it would seem that having a big time venue and a SEC opponent is not enough to counter the odds of a big loss, ESPNU, the heavy rains, Gay Pride parades, a 11am kickoff, and a small fan base.

The capacity of the Superdome is 73K. So, I'm not sure why ULL would have a 41K allotment when you factor in that the upper deck is closed off?

I think what they were likely doing is trying to pull a USM. Horde up the tickets and get MSU fans to buy them- at least they aren't gouging our fans. It's also a way to try to keep some of our fans away potentially and lessen any advantage we would have at a neutral site.

Bingo

Last time I remember us playing there was vs Tulane in 03. There may have been 30k in attendance.

I'd be shocked if there were 40k. 20-25 MSU 10-15 LaLa.

Congratulations on the baby man! Glad you get to see the Dawgs live this year. I will not be at every home game this year, maybe 3-4 if we look good I may try to make it to all of them. I do enjoy hunting though.

It would be awesome to go watch us beat tenn. and see those bastards throw their hands up in disbelief.

A bit off topic and apologies if it?s been covered, but anyone know the alcohol situation at the Dome? Will they be selling since it?s an NFL venue?

It's NOLA. There will be alcohol and plenty of it.
