good lord. I thought Sobiesk had a weak leg but was decently accurate. It looks like the one he hit from 51 would've been good from 55+

WTF ARE WE DOING?

More Mullen genius. While Bell is dead last in FBS in fg%.

Hey, Bell practices well** Let's replace our #2 NATIONAL punter in net avg and put him there as well...

That's just freaking unnacceptable. We need to replace the Special Teams coach...

Evan actually tried to quit in the spring and Mullen told him he wasn't going to let him. I thought all along when those guys came in Bell was gonna be the kickoff specialist, Morecadi the Punter, and Sobeski the Kicker.

People around me were trying to tell me Swedenberg looked hurt during warmups, but he said on his twitter that he wasn't hurt. Why does Mullen have such a hard-on for Bell?

I don't think there's any doubt Mullen is sticking with Bell partly because he's the one on scholarship. My guess is also that Bell practices well, maybe even better than Sobiesk.

But it definitely is past time to realize that it's not translating to games, and you might as well try something else.

Engie, it's absurd that Mullen takes a kid that has been great and benches him b/c one week he doesn't do as well as another kicker. Mullen IS PANICKING. This guy is feeling the heat and it's affecting his judgement. He knows what is coming.

Here is a problem with your thread about Stricklin being the issue. Dan is the only one to blame for this type of thing, unless Stricklin is telling Dan who to play, which is absurd to even think about.

The people who claim that Stricklin is the problem are the same ones, generally (Hack is actually an exception) that claim that if we brought Hudspeth in, everything would be great. It just doesn't make sense. Either our compliance department is holding our recruiting back, or our coaches are. It isn't both.

I happen to think it's on the coaches. I think the complaints over our compliance department and Stricklin, while valid in some cases, are mostly a red herring in regards to our overall status as a program.

I don't buy this one. Mullen has always had Baker punting. Something had to be wrong with him to not let him punt. Now why Bell is even still on the team is a definite head scratcher.

My thoughts are that positive change forces more positive change. Mullen has an ice cold relationship with the cigar boys. Hudspeth doesn't. Cigar boys are who make changes to athletics administration. See how I'm projecting this to work?

I think they are all 3 a problem -- but Mullen is the only one we see on the field -- and thus the "quick fix".

Pretty obvious that you have no clue who the real Cigar Boys are.

This is the one thing you & I may ever agree on. Like I said in Armchair QB: Bell may look like the second coming of Morten Andersen in practice, but it isn't translating. You've GOT to make the change at this point.

If Sobieski quits and leaves MSU, I don't blame him. He's gotten the big middle finger from Mullen with his stubborn support of Bell. I fully support standing by your guy and letting him work through the mental issues, but this is damn insane. Bell has a future as a kickoff guy. Let him firm that up and give someone else a chance. Hell, Shumpert could be more effective.

it's not Strick's job to recruit players or determine who kicks FGs. Saying he shouldn't be fired over that is like saying Keenum shouldn't be fired because a professor chose the wrong student to represent state in a car building contest.

Dont know if anyone saw the warm ups after halftime but mullen told bell to go kick with the punters and was pissed, tossed the tri-pod in disgust and sobiesk was the only one kicking and putting a whole bunch of long ones through the uprights with plenty of distance.

Missed that. But it doesn't do us a damn bit of good if Mullen won't pull the plug on Practice All-Star Bell.

Sobiesk can kick, also the punt pass and kick dude needs to have a jersey instead of bell.

@bakerswedenburg: @TogeySprings nope. Not injured

I'm just saying. Why would he lie about being hurt?
