Paul Jones over on 247 has been hinting towards a possible secret football commit. He claims this secret commit would be someone who would shock us. Are y'all buying this, and if so who would your money be on?

Paul is not one to do a bunch of bullshit- so I'm sure it's real- but no idea who it could be at this time.

Never put much stock into "secret" committments.....they are really "phantom" committments

if it "surprising", then to me it would be a QB committing to us

If it's "surprising" AND "Hevesy", it could just be any commit he doesn't run off.*

I'm not seeing that many that would be truly shocking...

It's got to be a bigtime player that is semi unexpected for Paul to hint such things -- something I've never seen him do before.

Keep an eye on his "predictions" that just came out on the 24/7 database... That might eventually tell us who he is thinking...

Bulldog15 said "Paul is this silent commit your referring to someone we would be surprised by"

Paul says "I would say so."

I wouldn't say that Paul is pumping someone that will shock us. I just think its someone that isn't a guy the average fan is readily familiar with. I don't read much into these things

I would love for it to be Marlon Humphrey but that would probably just be wishful thinking

I hope we get him, but Scout could have saved space by saying, "There are 120 D-1 schools and he is interested in all of them."

My uneducated guess is Rod Taylor from Callaway. Going from the clues of unexpected and Hevesey.

While that is obviously true, I would have to think that since he is an o-line recruit that Hevesey would at least have a part in it. Much like Deon Mix was in Melvin Smith's territory at the time, but he obviously had a part in his recruitment. Knox is definitely his area recruiter.

Is Omar Truitt any relation to Olanda Truitt? I used to like Olanda

http://mississippistate.scout.com/a.z?s=136&p=8&c=1&nid=6028384

I doubt he's any relation, it says he's from Maryland. Would be awesome if he was though.

Well I'll be damned.

I did a little more digging, and found this about Omar Truitt...

Not only is he related to Olanda, he's Olanda's son. A Bulldog Legacy. I hope if he's a solid player we can get him.

I thought coach was ****ing with us....is that serious? Haha, if so that is a damn trip. I hope we get him if it's real, because you'd have to be a bad ass to make it through high school football with the name shithead.

Omar Truitt.. recruited by Townsend, dad played here. That one makes a lot of sense. Would be kinda shocking to get an out of state guy so early.

Could be bad information I guess, but I heard this a week or so back before anything hit the boards about a "private" or "secret" commit. I've always thought secret commits mean the same as "you lead right now" regardless. Recruiting has turned into such a soap opera that it's ruined it for a lot of the people who have followed it for the past 10+ years. I don't follow it much anymore other than what people voluntarily tell me (for several reasons), just like I don't watch WWE anymore. At this point, it's all BS until the ink is dry. There are still a few people (like Shump) that handle it right, but they don't get the headlines anymore.

The way shump handled his recruitment screams maturity. I'm very excited to see this guy play for us

I mean I hope like crap it was Rod but its not sounding to promising and my guys know they're stuff and are in with the right people.. If I had one other wishful secret commit it would be Markell Pack or Travante Valentine but both are very slim at this point

Hack has been right alot more often than he's been wrong over the years and might as well be considered one of our best sources here IMO. He doesn't generally put it out there if there isn't something to it. JMO after observing from the distance for a long time...

That said, who knows? I certainly hope it is Taylor -- but I have no idea -- and have no real sources either way on him. Still burned out from last recruiting season to be honest...

I'll go ahead and say this before anybody questions it lol.. I am not and have never said hack was wrong, everytime he puts something out there I always and and let it play out cause like you said he's more often right than wrong. My sources are pretty close the Mississippi State recruitment and when I hear stuff like this I usually go to them before I say anything at all, so I usually know what's going on.
And yea last years recruiting season will probably still be wearing me out 3 years down the road, it was something I've never delt with and hopefully never have to again lol

well, to clarify, I did hear its an OL, but they did not specifically say Taylor. Some others have speculated that its likely him. Homedog seems to be pretty confident here though. I'm going with him.

We need to be recruiting the **** out of some road graters. Our campus is full of girls from north Mississippi that are 5'8-5'10....130-135 pounds...linemen love those types of girls- we need to get some damn sho nuff linemen on campus
