If that's the case....

Bless the hearts of whomever we play!

Hope he does but will need to see it on the field before extending my blessing on our opponents.

Remember Preston Smith how he came to life his last season? Sometimes the realization that this is my last season to make an impression on the NFL opens up his eyes.

Excellent point. I really hope the same happens for Leo.

An ancillary positive of that would be the blistering wringing of hands in North MS, lol.

I hope so. If true he's living up to the player he can be.

If Leo can dramatically improve in pass coverage plus eliminate the stupid penalties he could a shot in the league. I guess it is now or never which should be good for our defense.

We'll see. I don't know that I trust media evaluations all that much....and it is practice.

I hope it's true but I'm just in wait and see mode.

Leo has the ability. I wouldn't doubt that he could hang with Erroll. I hope he is ready to.play.

I tried to tell people in the other thread that Leo has had a great spring and summer and that is why he is ahead of Willie gay on the depth chart right now.

That same urgency is in Tommy Stevens as well. Could be a great season ahead. I still think we go 8-4 but if everything fell right I could see 9 or 10 wins.

Gay is injured.

He'll also have to actually beat some blocks and run to the football with the intentions of making a play. He's put some really bad film out there.

Leo HAS to avoid those personal foul, late hits this year. Would be a bug sign of maturity.

For all intents and purposes he's been a 4 year starter.

I honestly don't recall this being an issue? I remember Gay getting called for one in the Egg Bowl.

Leo got called for one about every game he played in last year. Seems like it anyway.

It's really odd I don't remember any being called on him?

This is what I've noticed, too. I don't doubt that he has talent-I just haven't seen it exhibited very much on the field.

I vaguely recall at least two.

One of them was a bad call though - roughing the passer at Kentucky. I know we coached like shit and played like shit - but those refs were looking to cheat us as if we were playing Bama that night.

He had at least one in the A&M game. It was a stupid roughing the passer on a third down stop that extended the drive and allowed them to score a TD right before the half. The camera panned to Joe on the sidelines just in time to catch him saying "GD F'n Leo!" I remember because that was my thought as well.

He's beginning his senior year. He's only played 3 years.

Hope he has stepped up. And hope a couple DTs step up. LBs look a lot better when you have a Simmons in front of them engaging two OL. If that ends up happening watch out

After the UK game Moorhead yanked him in the next one and never put him back in bc he got a stupid personal foul
