Funny how we go from basically consensus top 20 in computer models to unranked once humans that care about helmet logos start voting.

We're essentially 27th. Coaches Poll is so out of date. We'll be top 20 by Auburn

Agree. The people voting don't follow the sport from the right perspective and they certainly don't do research

I don't know how Auburn can be ranked ahead of us.

All the SIDs see is 1. Lost QB 2. Lost 3 1st rd draft picks 3. Mississippi State

All these advanced analytics that have become common knowledge weren't considered in this. For all the progress CFB has made in accurate rankings, we revert back to 1975 with this poll. It's silly

The ridiculousness off this poll proves itself weekly. Most of these coaches barely look at these ballots. I think they probably keep checking off with what they had in the first poll.. Then back to film..

I mean, as far as it meaning anything, it is gone. It means nothing. The only thing that gives it power is individuals who pay attention to it. When you decide it means nothing, it no longer does. It doesn't count toward anything anymore.

From the highs of winning in Death Valley and beating Auburn to become number 1 to the lows of shitting the bed against a one legged QB in the Egg Bowl. When that little shit safety for UM took Dak's legs out after the whistle and it didn't start a fight, I knew we were going to lose. Then turning around and acting like we have never seen a damn option before in the Orange Bowl. Dak throwing for 450 yards was the only thing that made that game worth flying to Miami.

Elston was the OM safety. He's a Philadelphia eagle, so not a crappy player. He certainly could be a crappy person though, no idea

When I called him a little shit, I wasn't referring to his playing ability. He was a piece of shit for taking a cheap shot on our QB's knees and flipping him over onto his head after the whistle and everyone was stopped.

It was a great run, but what a horrible ending. I don't really celebrate that season. It was great to be No. 1, but losing three of four to finish was the worst kind of downer. We Believe made it even worse. Reminds of those space suit uniforms we wore while getting our ass handed to us by Texas A and M. Maybe just play football. That's special by itself without slogans and clothing designers.

We won 10 and made the orange bowl. Was it a disappointing finish? Hell yeah, but that about as good a season collectively as we can have. No way should you not celebrate 2014 as a state fan

I have a friend who played college ball at big SEC school and his brother is a GA at another SEC school and I believe I remember him telling me that many of them do that very thing. So yeah, they vote sticker on the helmet or chalk most of the time.

I get your point, and you're right. But it still hurts some. I do realize that it's challenging to perform at championship level week after week. I'd say that's a big part of the difference between the top and the rest.

Preseason polls are an excellent way to remember why there are NO legitimate national championships in division 1 football before the BCS and now the playoff.

Well, don't let a game against an entirely inferior team come down to one play.

Moorhead's offense was trash against every good defense we played last year, with the exception of Auburn. And he abandoned "his" offense that game.

1-11 with a win vs. OM is better than 11-1 with a loss to OM in a lot of State fans eyes. Same can be said about OM. I like to think that 2014 was from the ‘13 Egg Bowl to the 51-0 Vandy game. Feels better to think about it that way.

Seriously. Not to mention the increase in the number of games played. 10 of 12 (83 percent) is better than 10 of 13 (77 percent). Ten of 12 is just three percentage points better than 8 of 10.

1902-1939, 1941-1998, and 2000-2008 all say hi back. 102 seasons versus 2 seasons.

If I gave you a 2 out of 104 chance at winning a prize, you wouldn?t call those odds anything but nonexistent.

If you’re well ackshully’ing me.... “pipe dream (plural pipe dreams)

(idiomatic) A plan, desire, or idea that will not likely work; a near impossibility.
I think that his plan to become a professional athlete is a pipe dream and that he should stay in school.”

“Not likely”

Not that hard to comprehend what it means. Don’t get why you’re taking such offense to this school’s history circa 10 years ago. It’s fact that we went 2 for 104 on getting double digit wins.

Swear it’s the snowflake generation that takes offense to facts ruining this country.

You're right Dancing Rabbit. I was going to respond to his last dumbassed post, but I'm done talking to a troll. When you call something a pipe dream that ACTUALLY happened within the last 10 tries of your time frame, you're not debating. You're arguing just to try to win the argument, or you're trolling. Then, he insinuates snowflake because someone disagrees with him and called him out on his inaccuracy.
