This is pretty interesting....

How much longer will Tennessee still get respect?

Also surprised to see us tied with Auburn. Their distribution is way different though

Another of interest is Auburn with same record as us but you would think Aub is right below Bama listening to media. We could move right behind Florida with a good year this year.

Good point. Auburn having UGA every year certainly effect their overall record. Same for Tennessee with Bama

So over a 7 year period, the difference for us being in 4th or 8th is 1 game a year. In that period we have had 7 SEC loses of a TD or less.
That's pretty amazing.

Florida had two coaches that they fired and one interim while compiling that record!

And look at the east teams records ... one other team over .500 UGA.
Give us their schedule those 7 years I bet our record is similar if not better

And USC has been pretty bad since those 11-2 seasons in '12 & '13.

To be the best, you have to beat the best. And, we're 2-13 against Bama, UGA and LSU over this time period. On the other hand, with games against those 3 taken out of the equation, we're 26-15.

Division inequalities screw it up too. Where would we be if we?d played an east schedule? Say, South Carolina?s?

The top 2 each year in the east were decent but beatable. Bama has been a juggernaut. Any given year, the second best team in the West is clearly better than the east champion except Georgia the last two years.

Too bad we play Bama, LSU, TAM and Auburn every year. That really skews things.***

That's how Dan played it, and I don't really blame him. Don't waste time on recruits that aren't coming, win the games that you're supposed to win. Redshirt, develop and keep a stable locker room.

You have to do more to win championships here, but he did the basics to build a program. You build a program, you get job offers. Even with his job hunting, he seemed to treat our program with respect. We don't look like FSU or Arkansas.

The biggest thing Mullen did was bring consistency. His recruiting was typically around 20-30 and we won between 6-8 regular season games (1st season and 8th at 5 wins, 6th with 10 wins). We typically didn't have any drama other than his job hunting at the end of most seasons. He built a great foundation that we desperately needed after the end of Jackie's years and the Croom era. Hopefully Joe can build even higher. His first year, he maintained what was built. 8 regular season wins which is the high end of what Mullen typically done and our recruiting finished on the high end of what Mullen typically did. Joe just needs to take that next step and win 8-9 and get 10 more than once a decade while getting the recruiting into the top 15-20 range.
