Where are the best position battles? Who are some players that you expect to see make major jumps?

Who starts at DT? I expect to see Fletcher Adams and Spivey have breakout seasons along with Deddrick Thomas. Brian Cole will be high to mid round draft pick after this season

I am interested in fabian Lovett. I watched him play in high school and was always impressed.

Cole was on the verge of breaking out last year before the injury. I expect him to have a huge year.

It's not like this is going out on a limb, or that they weren't already good, but I expect both Gay and Thompson to have monster years.

Spivey is a sleeper to come out and make a big impact in the passing game, but I might be a year early on that.

If and it's a big IF Cole can finally stay healthy he'll be a big time player. I'm hoping Murphy can show good progress but worry if all the off-the-field stuff he's had to deal with regarding his son will slow that down.

If or DL is not good at stopping the run, then yeah, our LB's may have monster seasons. I worry about that DL in the middle.

Maybe the biggest battle will be at WR with Guidry, Whop, Mitchell, Zuber and Payton trying to win outside spots and Thomas, Williams and others vying for the slot.

Zuber will be starting in the slot.

Zuber will be starting in the slot.

Really? I would think he would be penciled in at the outside to give us one deep threat.

Yeah, I was thinking Zuber was an outside guy.

Cole is a 2nd round talent and if he stays healthy don’t be shocked if his name is called day one
The 2nd team OL is where I’m anxious to see what the rotation is.
I agree and I hope the off season heartaches hasnt taken it’s toll on Murphy and who could blame the kid if it has
If we get Love cleared ( and we should) that helps our depth. Going to be curious who our 1-6 are at the DT position.
TE could also be a battle don’t be surprised if Donta Jones leads all TE in receptions and or yards

Zuber is an outside guy. I’m going to go ahead and say this- our wideouts are going to surprise people. They aren’t that bad, and they are finally going to have a halfway competent passing QB(Stevens) throwing to them.

I just want 1 TE to emerge and become legitimately active in the passing game.

I think Cumbest could be that guy, if he gets enough snaps.

Maybe it?s just me, but Cumbest?s speed didn?t blow me away during baseball season like I thought it would for an SEC TE...

I think I agree with this. It may not have seemed like it last year, but we did improve at WR from 2017 to 2018. Granted, our WR?s in 2017 were by far the worst in the SEC, but still. Everybody remembers the two big drops from last season and they were indeed huge, but Guidry and Mitchell did have a really nice game against A&M that helped us salvage the season from being a total failure.

We do have some talent at WR, probably the most we?ve had since 2015 with Ross and Wilson. And we bring basically everybody back from a year ago plus add a proven grad transfer in Zuber. If Stevens is a halfway decent passer and we can get a bit more consistency from the WR?s, we will likely see our passing game take a big step forward even if we are only OK in that area. OK is still a big step up from the last two years. We don?t have to be a great passing team, just need to be good enough to take some pressure off Hill and the running game. It?s kind of remarkable that we won 17 games the last two years with one of the worst passing games in the Power 5.

Playing baseball has put him a good ways behind I'd guess. Spivey had an excellent spring. The starter will probably be Farrod Green but Spivey could be the redzone guy or receiving specialist. We have never had a TE like him if he pans out he is a freak

Is love not a sophomore this year? What needs to be cleared?

LT - Tyre Phillips
LG - Parker/Story august competition
C - Darryl Williams
RG - Stewart Reese
RT - Eiland/Champion august competition

I think that's the starting 5 on opening day. Will be interesting to see how Dolla Bill and Charles Cross develop.

Both of them have a chance to play. If they arent starting by the end of the year that is some serious talent to not be getting a lot of reps.

Because I think most people don't view it as a battle at this point - it's Tommy job unless something completely unexpected happens.

Exactly. Joe will call it a battle and make it look like he doesn't know who the starter is going to be but on August 31st Tommy is going to be the starting quarterback unless he is injured.

I expect a big year from Landrews.

Is Kilby-Lane going to help us at all this year?

Losing 22 seniors and likely a few Juniors after this season. That's a lot. Typically that much experience leads to success, but we'll see

Yes
Doubt it . Tim Washington is ahead of him on depth chart from m6 understanding
Yes losing a lot this year. That’s why I think the 2020 class will be bigger than most think and why we are going heavy juco.

That’s why I never understood the “ best team ever” label the 2018 got. If TS is as advertised this team will be better IMO
It won’t prob won’t have the 3 first rounders , but I bet we have more drafted .

Weak lines don't usually lead to success in the SEC.

I think we will see a 2 Qb package. Could be a good weapon. You can play 2 RBs why 2 Qbs. We will be fine at DT. Our LBs are our strength.

The OL will be far from weak.
And yes the DL has its weakness but the back 7 is very good.
Rivers / Spencer won’t be a huge falloff from Sweat / Green
And no one can replace Simmons , but we have some talented guys on the DL just young..
