Only one way to go out for him. Heres hoping he gets it done. After his last game he just might lead us there

Jake will be great for New York and Northeastern fans. Fan favorite. The Yankees drafted him last year, Mets must agree with me.

That?s awesome for him. Where was he drafted last year? Seems like a good pay bump

Doubtful. Unfortunately, he's a senior. Mets drafted matthew Allan in 3rd who they're probably trying to get money up for

Believe it was 32nd round last year. Although the fact that he was almost definitely coming back may have had something to do with that.
30th round year before that.

4th round, pick (118) has a slot value of $487,900. Jake probably made a couple dollars coming back for this year.

500k is not a bad way to start off in life. Good for Jake

Do seniors with no eligibility left ever get slot value? I thought teams consistently screwed those players?

Also, I seriously doubt Jake's value shot up that much over the past year; teams probably knew he wasn't signable for what they valued him at last year. Also, if I understand it correctly, being able to low ball him and free up money to go overslot for highschool and underclass draftees would make him more attractive for where his talent would put him?

Seniors have lost their leverage by having no college eligibility remaining. Usually, seniors drafted in the Top 10 rounds will sign for less than 40% of their slot value. Congrats to Jake. It's an honor to be drafted that high and he'll pour his heart and soul into being a Met.

They need a rule against that or do something to not screw over kids that want to finish their college career

Definitely the 32nd last year, Whatever Jake gets as a bonus, his Dad will invest for him and Jake can do what he loves for a few years.

I don't think it was ever about money for Jake. He gladly traded in any money he would have gotten for the chance to play at Dudy Noble one more year and try for that NC.

Nah. Jake made an informed choice and decided college baseball was more important to him.

Jake was drafted in 30th round in 2017 by Yankees, 32nd round in 2018 by Mets. New York loves this kid apparently.

He's a leader and a baller. What's not to love?
