We usually get away from the Coast for weekends like this and visit in-laws. I want nothing to do with the boat ramps down here all weekend.
Planning to boil some shrimp, watch baseball, drink plenty of beer and maybe even do a little freshwater fishing for a change.

You fishing down here this weekend, Beast?

For the past 20 years I go to the local cemeteries in Gulfport and Biloxi and put out flags on the guys who were killed in action and buried here, including Jimmy Tochet who was killed in training.

I think I'm going to hit it hard all day sunday. Go way south early (Brush and south) and give trout a shot and then switch to redfish by 9. Tide rising all day so hoping to get in some ponds I like in high water after lunch. Hoping for some sight-fishing opportunities but we will see.

We are heading to Tunica for Friday night, but instead of the steakhouse at a casino, we are dining downtown for local flavor. We are eying Cafe Marie or Hollywood Cafe. Saturday is a work day getting the pool ready for summer. We are about a month late on getting it open due to rebuilding the pump and filter systems because of storm damage. However, we will be breaking in a new grill with ribeyes.

Sunday is a "float" day, which depends on the SEC Tourney. If we are playing,,,,,,,we will go to Hoover. Monday the family gathering menu will be Ribs, smoked chicken wings and legs, grilled veggies.

It's graduation weekend for my son. Graduation is at the football stadium at 8:00 tonight. We then hop in the car to Marietta early in the AM to try to make graduation for my nephew, then a party for the boys at my sisters. The boys are very close, and we have a very large extended family around Marietta between my side and my BIL's family - so we will get to see a lot of people we usually only get to see at weddings and funerals.

Back to the coast Sunday, brats and burgers and pool time at my parents Monday. I'm on vacation next week, and will be taking the boy to orientation at Valdosta State Wednesday.

Going to brag a bit - my son has outdone himself. He will graduate Glynn Academy with a 3.77, and has 25 credit hours for college via the dual enrollment program. He was also awarded an Honors Scholarship at VSU, a Music Scholarship, and a Marching Band Scholarship that when combined with HOPE is paying for everything but books. He has been accepted into the Honors Program, and will be in their 5 year MAT program as a Music Ed major. And, he is a really good kid, goal oriented, pretty disciplined for an 18 year old, loyal, and honest. He also really discovered his passion for teaching music over the past 2 years and has essentially taught percussion at the high school because the band director is terrible at percussion. I wish I had had direction and understanding of my goals at that age like he does - I was too busy chasing girls and drinking beer.

Great cause there parabrave. Thank you.

Most people don't know it but the majority of those KIA are buried in local cemeteries, not at national cemeteries and as time goes by the families either die out or move nd there is no one to take care of there graves so at least one day out of the year people should just go by their local graveyard and please bring your kids and put a flag by a KIA grave.
