Why are these new catchers masks not more prevalent in amateur baseball?

Yes this May be an old story, but with the focus on safety in sports, you would think this catchers mask would become mandatory for amateur baseball. The design is so simple, it makes you wonder why it had not been done before a few years ago. The Braves catcher wears one.
