What a weird weekend. With the rain, the games getting moved back, and the 7 inning double header, we still managed to win a series against a pretty good team on the road. It wasn't pretty, but we got it done, much like the Tennessee series a few weeks back. A few thoughts:

-We have three good starting pitchers. Small and Ginn are studs like we know they are, but Plumlee has stepped up and competed the last few weeks, and we really needed that. Granted, it's been against two of the weaker hitting teams in the SEC, but he's built up some confidence.

-Wasn't a great weekend at the plate. 8 runs total, and we just looked uninspired at times. WAY too many strikeouts from the middle of our lineup. Westburg and MacNamee specifically are slumping pretty bad. I wouldn't be opposed to shifting the lineup around to let some guys who are hitting better hit in better spots while others work through their slumps, but I think Lemonis is just going to leave the lineup as it is, which may not be the worst thing either. Regardless, we've got to do a better job of battling at the plate and cut the strikeouts down. The bats are what kept us from a road sweep today.

-Next weekend in Oxford will be our last away series of the year. Really only have to win one to keep us in good shape as far as a national seed goes, but I fully expect to win that series. OM doesn't have the pitchers we've seen the last 2 weeks, and we own them. As of right now, our RPI is up to 3. We're sitting pretty.

We've got Memphis in the midweek this week. Need to win that so we can stay undefeated in midweek games and avoid a bad loss, which we currently don't have. Then let's go kick some RebelShark ass in their crappy stadium.

Anytime you can go on the road and take the series is all good. Pitching was outstanding.

Our bats will come alive again.

Hey, we won all the games we scored in and since you can't win if you don't score we did the best we could.

A&M might have the best starting two pitchers we have faced on the road. Both are probably first round guys.

Lacy top 10 pick in 2020, ahead of Ginn. Doxakis pick 40-70 this year

Agreed. Biggest difference I saw is that we don’t compete with our at bats on the road like we do at home. Our offensive performance was extremely similar to the one in Fayetteville. Biggest difference between those series is Arkansas can hit and A&M is a weaker hitting team. If we had played a good hitting team at their place with the approach we had this weekend, we probably get swept. We have to improve our hitting and competitive approach on the road. The approach is night and day different when we are at home vs on the road.

If we play A&M at Dudy Noble it?s a very similar massacre that we had against Georgia.

We had our chances in the second game. Hit into two double plays with bases loade and another time on first and third.

Out of all my years watching State baseball, we (as a program) have to be ranked the worst or near the worst at scoring when bases are loaded. No matter if there are 0, 1, or 2 outs. We will either score 1 or none.

We had the kid reeling in multiple innings and he wasn’t on at all. An inconsistent strike zone which heavily benefited A&M also helped him out. Had a ton of opportunities to put one or two runs on the board. Shouldn’t have been a 1-0 loss. No competitive at bats from the 2-4 hitters that game killed us as well.

Maybe. Those two lefties are the real deal though.

Yes they were, but in saying that we out pitched them.
