View Full Version : AJ Brown made a mistake not coming to MSU

I believe that if he had gone to MSU he would have developed into a first round pick because he would have actually learned how to run pass routes and may have touched the ball more as the focal point of the passing game. Not to mention he would have gone to bowls, had a winning record in the Egg Bowl and may have become the biggest hometown hero in Starkville's history.

But he wanted to be "recruited". And while that made him thousands of dollars at the time it cost him millions today.

Good lesson for recruits.

He would have had a better career overall, and likely broken records at MSU.

Did he not go round 1?

Nope. Nor did Metcalf.

He wouldn't have been a top 5 WR had he come to State. We run the ball too much

Agreed. He would have helped our offense, but Fitz was Fitz. He was going to struggle to get the ball to him because he just wasn't a good passer.

Our WR track record is not good and until we can show we can develop them into draftable prospects in a semi regular basis it's going to be tough for us to attract high quality skill position talent consistently.

The kid from Arizona State is better than both of them, but DK has a chance to be really good in the NFL. I've never been high on AJ, but he blew us up that one game.

Treadwell ruined any chance for any Ole Miss WR to ever be taken high again.

Not coming to MSU cost AJ nothing. Some of you don?t get how awful fitz is throwing a football. He is a great runner but as a QB he lacks a lot.

Don't tell that to the "we should've won 12 games with all this talent" crowd.

"A.J. Brown might be the safest receiver prospect in this class. He’s a sharp route runner who can also make plays downfield. He’d be a perfect complement to Buffalo’s free agent pickups at the receiver position."

That is an actual quote from Steve Ruiz of USA Today on 2nd rounders. I think my eyes bugged out or jaw dropped.

AJ wouldn't have been helped production-wise coming here, but he would have been infinitely better prepared. Both Mullen and Moorhead's passing schemes are rocket science compared to that Pee-Wee shit he ran under Freeze and Longo. I'm certain the reason both he and Metcalf fell out of the first round is because they don't know how to run routes.

Agree 100% on Harry. Was the best pro WR in the draft. And The Pats prove again why they are the #1 franchise in the NFL

Only 1 WR was taken the entire 1st round. Running better routes wouldn't have changed the draft last night.

Somebody's getting a steal in Parris Campbell. Mark my words. The Urban Meyer/Dan Mullen spread limit's receivers. Just ask Mike Thomas.

Brown looks to me like big talent. I wonder if there's an off the field issue that isn't public. I actually believe that he'll be an elite receiver in the league. Time will tell.

Fitz got the ball to Ross. Why not Brown. Haters gonna hate.
