Just guessing, but it might be faster to through Oxford and get on whatever hwy it is that takes you through Bruce-Calhoun City and come out on 82 about fifteen minutes west of Starkville.

You might feel really lost at some point if you're not familiar with the area, though.

I lived in Oxford three years. I know that way well. It would take a little over three hours to go that way.
