Was just looking at this:

After today Mangum sits at 319 career hits with the record being 352 by Eddie Furniss.

In 24 games this year, Mangum has averaged 2.6 hits per game.

At that pace, Mangum will need 12.6 games to tie the all-time SEC hits record.

FWIW, the Saturday of Super Bulldog Weekend vs Alabama is 12 games away & the Sunday game is 13 games away.

Can he break the record on Super Bulldog Weekend? That would epic & awesome

IDK man. We play Southern U at home in the mid-week and @ Arkansas the next weekend. I'd guess he would do it in one of those 4 games, but IDK man. This is an above average professional hitter in his 4th year of college baseball. He's really got it figured out.

I'm not sure he stays this hot, but he may have another 4 or 5 hit game in the next week that puts him ahead of the pace

He struggles more against teams like southern than any. Tests his like of patience and slow velo guys.

I think he is on pace to top the season record for hits. Adam Frazier has the record with 107, I think.

He's better against SEC pitchers, which is crazy.

Every time I doubt the guy he produces but seriously I’m thinking he’s gonna run a rate of .333. Yep 1-3 every game. Hope I’m wrong but even at that pace what a year! Still kills the record by end of conference.

Some of y'all have short memories. Jake is hitting like he did his freshman year - where he peaked at .463 on April 9. https://msstate_ftp.sidearmsports.com/stats/bb/2016/plyr_15.htm

He dropped off that pace, and got as low as .399 on May 13 - but by regular season end, he was back at .427.

And keep in mind - Jake wasn't a starter until SEC play - and he tore the SEC up that year.

As a leadoff hitter, he will get more at-bats than 3 in every game, unless he draws a lot of walks, which we all know is impossible because he thinks he can put EVERY pitch in play, no matter where it is. And most of the time, he's correct. He is a special kind of competitor at the plate.

What is the school record for career average? I'm guessing he finishes around .375-.380

What doubts could you possibly have about Jake?
