I love morning road games. This is the perfect time for us to pull the upset. Carolina is struggling, the crowd will be dead, and we will be coming off of a few extra days of rest.

The only problem is that we will be playing on eastern time at 11:21. Might not be a bad idea for Dan to wake the players up an hour early next week so they can get use to it. Or have a 10:21 in the morning practice.

Its 11:21 CT, 12:21 ET, just like every week.

You've clearly never been to Columbia. They put 80,000 in that stadium when they were terrible. Their fans always show up and root for their team.

So you think the crowd energy of an 1130 game will be the same as a 6 or 7pm game?

It has nothing to do with how many people show up. We packed the house for the A&M game last year as well and that was played at 11:00. The point is that the students have to wake up early, not much time to tailgate, and the stadium is usually more lethargic. I don't have any stats, but I would guess the road team wins in early time slots more than any other kickoff time-slot.

Most people would agree that a night atmosphere is more difficult to play in than an 11:30 AM atmosphere, regardless of venue.

I know the old saying is don't bet against a home underdog in the morning. Not sure about a home favorite though.

So are we making a blanket statement about all 11:30 games?

The comment was that the crowd would be "dead". Not that it would have less energy than at night. The crowd may not be in a 7 PM frenzy, but it won't be dead.

A&M game is a bad example. That game was over two minutes into it.

There have been 11:30 games where the crowd was "alive", as Jack would say. 2005 when we beat Florida, and Croom's home win against Bama are two examples off the top of my head.

Wasn't our 17-12 Bama game an 1130? And 38-31 Florida? Two of the loudest games ever.

Damn Bubb Rubb we matched those thoughts pretty exact.

Really? you know what I'm saying here... Early start time and a demoralized team certainly > night game with a team still fighting for the east

I have been there and they do a good job but they have one advantage over majority of the SEC. They are located in a city of 500k plus. I tell you what, they do have the Cockabooses which is the coolest thing in college football. I am surprise you don't hear much about them.

Both were 11:30 games.

Our big wins over Auburn came on early games on the road in 99 and 2007

He's not talking about Columbia he's talking about South Carolina being dead when we play them. It won't be though USC was packing their stands during 0-11 seasons. It'll be tough no matter what time we play. I do agree it's easier to pull off the upset early in the day.

I made my only trip to Columbia in 2000. We gave up 2 long 4th down conversions on USC's game winning drive, including the touchdown pass where Kendall Roberson never turned around. We drove all night to make it for an 11:30 kickoff. Talk about being pissed off. We were ready to leave right after the game.
