I think he sticks long term because I can't see the Cardinals brining Michael Wacha back next year and this could be Adam Wainwright's last year too. Even if it's not Wainwright's last year- he doesn't stay healthy for long.
I like the Cardinals future rotation with:
Flaherty
Mikolas
Carlos Martinez
Alex Reyes
Hudson
And then they have Jordan Hicks and Andrew Miller in the bullpen.
They also locked up Paul Goldschmidt and I'm glad that didn't turn into Jason Heyward 2.0
The only thing I wish that they would do is get rid of Dexter Fowler. I don't think he really wants to be in St. Louis. I wouldn't be shocked if Tyler O'Neill beats him out at some point.
I'm also eager to see how Nolan Gorman, Elehuris Montero, Malcolm Nunez, and Jhon Torres develop in the minors this year. They're each at least 2-3 years away but all are really talented and I think Gorman could be a superstar.
