You had two great shot blockers and length and our genius coach went with a man to man 100% of the time. A team with this size and length would have been dominent defensively with a great zone. The one thing I absolutely hate about Ben Howland is he refuses to play zone even though this team would be a bad ass zone team if we committed to it.

Like I said, I haven't been as impressed by a MSU men's game in pretty much a decade. The feel of this one was just different. We competed with a damn good basketball team. That is a MASSIVE step.

Yep. Been saying it all year. Too bad we absolutely refuse to use it to slow down a team that is ramming all 14 inches down our collective throats. The team played absolutely well tonight. Had a rough 2 minutes the middle of the 2nd half but all in all we played really well. Holman had the stroke tonight. Couldn't give him enough shots. Peters played alright. Had a terrible double clutch on his shots a few times. Everytime he barely drew iron. Peters, if you want to shoot, shoot it don't go in half ass on it

Bone, Schofield and Alexander destroyed us tonight. Schofield was out of his mind hot. Tennessee loses Schofield, Alexander and most likely Williams after this year so they'll fade back into the pack.

Agreed. It reminds me of a game last year at the hump. Both teams played a damn good game, MSU lost. The entire crowd stood and cheered at the end of the game. I have never seen something like that in my life. The home team losing fans cheering for a good competition. Tonight, we played toe to toe with TN playing a good UT game. I hope our guys keep their heads high on this game. Next week we start the real tourney.

We didn't play too bad. Peters hurts us so bad with his awful shot selection and turnovers as soon as we get back into a game. And what sucks is that he usually helps us get back in it before pissing it away with bad shots and poor passes. Holman did exactly what we needed him to do before the dance. Tennessee is just really damn good and they make some crazy tough shots. They are way too physical for us, so I applaud our effort. With a good draw we could win a game or two in the tourney. I'm not upset with tonight at all....I only got frustrated 3-4 times and that was all with Lamar Ervin. If we get Lamar Peters in the dance and tonight's Holman, we'll be a tough out

Did you read your post before posting? This is basketball. Not football. Games should be called evenly, no matter how physically a team plays. If a perceived physical team is allowed to get away with more Than a team not perceived as physical, therein lies the problem. Uneven apllication of the rules of the game is in istself an issue.

This physical team Bullshit is similar to allowing a Dodge Hemi engine against a race full Toyota Prius? and saying the playing field is equal. No racing fan would agree that is equal competition? So why try to make an argument for this bullshit Tennessee is allowed to get away with.

Similar to an officiating body allowing a crossbow in a bow competition. When participants are allowed to skirt or subvert the rules, it is not an even competition.

Great shot blockers are never good in a man to man because they are focused on an area and not a man. Ado is a better defensive player imo then Vernado was but Vernado got the benefit of playing in the zone defense half the time with Stans. Hell, Williams used the zone effectively during our Final Four run. If you have a team with the length like we do, it screams zone. We wasted it this year playing straight man to man. Not to mention a zone allows you to A) protect players in foul trouble and b) a short benched team will be more rested on the long run playing a zone.

I love the physicality he plays with, but he's got to stop letting one play affect the next. He will miss a shot and foul the rebounder out of frustration for example. Gotta have short term memory and forget the last play. If he matures emotionally and reigns in that attitude a bit, he will be unstoppable

Perry can be a stud in the future, but needs to be better on D, he is very good on the offensive boards. As for as T's, he needs to play under control, I'm never for seeing a player get a T, play aggressive but be under control. He just needs to mature.
Who I like and think our future leader will be is Woodard, has much upscale. His demeanor is cool.
