Gilbert continues to take advantage of opportunities. Great AB that ends with a line drive single up the middle. 2-0. He is now hitting .462 and threw out a runner in the first. Might be time to start penciling him in more.

Here's my Cerantola take: Very bright future, we are lucky to have him as a mid-week guy this year. Not ready for SEC weekends yet. But he will be a Saturday or Sunday guy next year.

2-0 heading to B3.

He looks excellent behind the plate. Hell he even looks good hitting.

We really need him to figure it out this yr or this summer and be ready next yr. if we have Ginn on Fri pumping 95, then can follow him up with Cerantola pumping 97 with that wicked hook he has, we will be in great shape.

Surprised we didn't let Cerantola go another inning or two. 2-0, T4. Self in.

For those watching, howd Cerantola do? Did he go deep in counts, walk any, any wild pitches? I'm dying for that kid to put it all together.

41 pitches, 24 strikes. Gave up 1 hit and walked 1. Control is not there yet for SEC weekends imo. And not necessarily walks but control in the zone. Big upside though. Little bit like a Dakota Hudson.

Cold day and the bats aren't really awake. APB doing a nice job with the off sth. peed stuff and aren't walking batters. I hope we can get Landon Jordan and JT Ginn some AB's today.

Spencer Price in to pitch the 6

Top 6 - inning starts with a walk, then a hit by pitch. MSU up 2-0 but Ark PB has runners on 1st and 2nd after the hit by pitch.
HBP nullified somehow. 1 out man on 2nd.

Price's velo looks good. 88-90. And that slider is always nasty. O runs, no hits, no errors. B6, still 2-0

That's what makes it hard. They don't see this velo. Hard to stay back enough. Easy to say sit back and relax...

Easy dude, it's in memory of A. Wilcox, the softball player we had die last year, for ovarian cancer.

As soon as I typed it up... I wondered if that's what it was for. So yea... alright.

Serious question, is our pitch count and scoreboard operator on SEC network+ retarded?

Brad Cumbest with a rope to the LC gap for a double. Good looking prospect. I hope he can play some summer ball after the season. Might want to let him start a game in LF or DH.

Playing with fire, but I would be tempted to work with Westy on elevating the ball a little more. His exit velo is off the charts.

It's quite often wrong, so your observation may be correct.

9-0 now, bottom of the 7th.

They are out of pitching... we see better from our bullpen catcher I'm sure. they might never get the 3rd out in the 7th. 10-0 now.

This inning may never end, the new pitcher has a 66 era.

Mike Ginn told me last year that westburg was gonna be the best hitter on the team. Said the ball came off his bat different than everyone else. Looks like he was right,

Cumbest is our 4th of as I said before. He will be only going to a handful of spring football practices

I like how Lemonis is using this game and hopefully the next four to experiment a little bit.

Looks like Cerentola is coming along nicely. I expect him to start again against Grambling. This is maybe crazy but I'd like to see us use him as an opener against SEC teams and just let him go 2-3 innings or whatever he is able to handle and then go to Keegan or Plumlee. Sort of like we did with Trevor Fitts and Chad Girodo.

I agree with Hoops about Cumbest- I'd start him Friday in LF against Maine and see how he does. Plus it will give Rowdey some time to rest and find his goggles. We can always DH Cumbest if Rowdey starts to hit again.

My boy Tyler Spring had another good outing. Riley Self's confidence is hopefully getting better and good to see him get two scoreless innings. He could have melted down like Ross Mitchell did to Pine Bluff in 2015- but Self beared down after allowing the double and wild pitch and then came out and had a 1-2-3 inning.

Todd, i think i saw Cerantola throw a couple of change ups, with one being a really good pitch for a strike. He also seemed to have better control with his fastball. Looks like he is improving significantly.
