What are everyones thoughts on the bottom of our roster?

Currently, we play 7 guys, 8 if you include Nick. DJ Stewart and Prince Odurois RSing - so that accounts for 10. What about the other 3? Does anyone else find it alarming we are getting nothing from 23% of our scholarships?

With 2 seniors (Q and Holman - plus Peters could leave for the "NBA"), and only 3 commits, it means 2 of EJ Datcher, KeyShawn Feazell, and Jethro Tshisumpa are returning. That is really odd to me - seems like we could fill those spots. Let's turn the bottom of that roster Howland.

Need to find the radio interview with Richard Williams talking about how he was struggling to keep guys happy and give enough minutes. Someone left the team, and he said it was so much earlier to coach and have stability with fewer guys in the rotation.

I understand 13 guys can't play. But i'd rather fill the back end rosters with freshmen and RS them then a Junior and JUCO player who never play.

Well because 1 of our 8 is currently suspended. My point is this was in your original post

"Does anyone else find it alarming we are getting nothing from 23% of our scholarships?"

Hence my response of how many schools are getting production out of players 11-13? That's my point.

Well, we are getting nothing from currently 46% of our roster. If you're counting as us RSing guys are "getting production", Tenn is RS a 4* freshmen center. So there is a team w/ 11.

Doubt Peters is leaving or he shouldn't because he ain't ready so that'd leave us with only two extra spots. Maybe those are Datcher and Feazell which I am fine with since they've both been in the program for several years now.

Style of play comes into play but to me ideally you play 8-9 guys. We were in an 8 man rotation which is about right.

Jethro is a guy I thought before I saw him that could really help us with 8-10 good defensive minutes a game. Looks like it just didn't work out.

Feazell seemingly averages a foul a minute. Datcher just never seemed to have the motor. I was wrong on him as well. After seeing him as a freshman I thought he'd be a reliable big off the bench.

It's damn near impossible in this age of college basketball to have 13 players on your roster who can actually play.

1. There's not enough minutes to play that many players
2. If you have a talented guy who can play buried on the bench they're going to transfer
3. It's hard enough getting a good rotation for 8-9 guys the complaining that would go on for 11-13 guys would be crazy

Well we have gone complete 180 now
Let’s get RWII more minutes to why are we only playing 8 ( Nick ) players..

And not to go all 1996 on anyone here
That team went 8 deep.

Tennessee plays 8 guys more than 12 minutes a game. In conference play that drops to 6 guys playing 12 minutes. 6 of their 13 players score 71 of their 81 points. Again I'm not sure what you're asking. There are very very few teams who play more than 8 or 9 players & almost no team gets production past 9-10.

This is the # of players on top college teams playing more than 10min/game.

Duke - 8 (With Zion out 7)

Virginia - 8

Michigan - 7

Michigan St - 8

Texas Tech - 8

This is just Feazell 2nd year & he's playing with a Labrum injury that will require surgery after the season.

It'd be pretty easy and not change much of anything to give a couple of these scholarships to baseball.

Neither Jethro nor Datch will be back next year. We’re going after Galen Alexander, Brandon Weatherspoon and Raymond Hawkins to fill out the roster.

#'s going to have to break just right for Brandon to get in.

Yep. Baby spoon is the lowest priority of the three.
