I think I agree. That whole thing was pretty odd. I do think that had they been adamant about keeping Freeze the penalties would have been worse. I actually to be honest had kind of mixed feelings about Rosebowl releasing that info before the sanctions were announced. Because in my mind a big reason why we got hit hard under Jackie was because we didn't just fire him right away.

Agree, its true we could be being misled, but academic fraud absolutely does NOT equate to a violation of team rules. That would go way beyond team rules to NCAA and university rules. But even speculating about something that serious on a message board as a RUMOR is pretty uncalled for. Not everything heard through the rumor mill, which is often very faulty, needs to be put on a message board.

We did have a two year bowl ban but weren't close to making a bowl. The scholarship penalties were minimal, even lighter than OM's. The prolonged investigation hurt us more than the penalties. I was going to say that OM's prolonged investigation also hurt them more than their penalties, but they signed a top class in 2016 DURING their investigation.
