If true, I would advise not going to twitter unless you want to get pissed. I?m quite sure there are tons of people that will love to say how he deserved it, karma, etc because of a mistake he made as a 17 year old

I'll be he still goes late first or in the second.

For his sake, I hope you're right. Just don't see a team paying first round money on an unknown at this point..

He's too good to slide into the 2nd. Smart teams with value picks will get him. Pats, Saints, Ravens, etc... will take him in the 1st still.

a la Jaylon Smith for the Cowboys....that's great and all for the team that drafts him, in terms of getting a bargain....but it really ****ing sucks for him. He worked his ass off to get here, was likely going to be a lottery pick, and wham...

Very much a Jaylon Smith type situation without the nerve damage(hopefully).

Smith went 34th overall

Jaylon Smith was taken 1st or 2nd pick of the 2nd round with a similar situation.

He's not an unknown, though. He was dominant in the best league in college, going up against the best talent in the nation. People come back from knee injuries all the time, and it's not like he's got a history of injuries. Plus, it's not like it was his Achilles, neck, or spine. He'll be fine long term, it just sucks in the present.

No way he lasts to pick 60 (think that's our pick). We need someone that'll play this year anyway with brees running out of sand in the hourglass

Jaylon had more than one torn ligament and nerve damage though. Simmons isn't falling out of the first round. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few teams try to jump into the late first to get him.

Yep. The Pats have done it in the past, I know.

There is a zero percent chance Simmons drops out of the first round. ACL injury or not, dominant DT are huge in the NFL. And with the way ACL surgeries are going now, if he gets surgery done he could still play before the season is over. Lot of folks are getting above 90% within 8-10 months of surgery. Lot of hard work and good response from his body could get him ready by the end of December or into January.

Zero percent?? I wouldn't be so sure in that one. Sounds like you would lay some great odds. I hope not though, he's be a great player and a good student here. I know he's gonna make it back. I just hate its going to hurt him on his first contract. But we know the second one will be huge. He's that good

I hate it for Simmons but he'll most likely still get drafted in the 1st round. I really hate it for all our guys that didn't get invited to the combine. They just lost a huge crowd of NFL reps for their pro day.

Oakland has 3 1st round picks: #4, #24, and #27. They aren't in win now mode. I'd come close to betting good money that Jeffrey is a raider. #27 is guess to Oakland

LA Rams at 31. An elite team where he doesn't have to rush but could be plugged in beside Aaron Donald for the stretch run.

He may still get drafted high, but he just wont be able to play for a team until 2020. They will likely work in a minimum contract for 2019 so he can be with his new team's doctors and trainers to rehabilitate after surgery. In fact, they may want their team doctors to do the surgery instead of Rusty Linton. He'll be as good as new and likely better as the new ACL is usually stronger than the original ligament.....it will just push his career back a year. Good thing is that he'll get to know the playbook and his teammates real well, so when he is ready, that part of it won't hold him back.

I don't figure he waits til after the draft to have the surgery. My bet is that the surgery is done in he nest week or two, max.

The faster you get the ACL fixed, the faster you can recover.

Recovery time for motivated hard working athletes is 6 months now... That would put him ready for August. My bet is whoever gets him puts him on the reserve list or PUP... Then move him to Active roster (53 man) in Week 8. That lets him do film study and training staff but not "practice".

I think this pushes him to late first round. My thoughts for the best chance Patriots, Chargers, Raiders, Rams, or Vikings.
