Normally I'd agree, but usm finished #3 nationally in total defense this season. With how joe's offense performs vs top defenses, we may have to win 9-6

A home game vs a CUSA team. We better do a hell of a lot better than 9-6.

Does that defensive ranking take into account they only played 11 games?
I dont care about stats when you look at this schedule.... if everyone played the same schedule I may care more.

S&p+ had them as 16th best defense last season.

Mitssippi Southern will play hard and if we do what did on offense in the Outback things could get dicey, rather late.

Joe's offense blew out a bowl-bound Sun Belt team and a bowl-bound CUSA team in 2018. I have little doubt he'll do so again in 2019.

Yuck. If Joe wants to fully regain this fanbase, a 21-7 Win at home over USM won't do it. We should handle them easily on talent alone. I expect 35+ points and for us to keep them around 1-2 scores. No reason that shouldn't be a 42-10 type of game or worse

They lost at auburn this year 24-13. Are we convinced we'll be better than 2018 auburn next season? I'm not.

Yep. You can tell how much damage the 2018 season did to some of our fans if they're worried about USM.

We have way more talent. They played ***** schools. We played in the SEC. Our second team defense would have been the number one defense in Con USA last season. I worry mores about ULLA.

We blew out at least 4 teams that were better than Southern Miss this past year. We'll be fine.

Sadly, you are right. Everything was better in the 80’s with the possible exception of Mississippi State football.

If we beat USM 9-6 at home, then Joe won't be here this time next year. Or at least he shouldn't be.

9-6 was a joke, but I'll stand by the 21-7 type game. Perhaps we get em by 20. If someone here is willing to lay the 30+ points, I'd take em

By that logic, we can claim being better than the National Champions since we beat aTm handily yet Clempson only beat Aggy by two. It?s February and football is seven months away, but hey, feel free to keep menstruating all over this board.

I'm predicting Tennessee will be the SEC's most improved team this year. And their ranking here may justify it.

I?m predicting nothing from this ranking. Any ranking that has Mississippi Southern fourth in anything except ranking them as #4 out of 4 Polyester Science Programs should be taken with a pound of salt.

I just don't have the confidence we'll score 40+ against a top 20 scoring defense, top 5 total defense, and top 20 S&P+ defense that apparently is returning a bunch of players. This thread reminds me of the bowl... we were gonna blast that slow Iowa team. I was very cautious though bc they were a top 20 S&P+ defense and we were awful against good defenses all year. Hopefully we win by 50 like you all predict.

Iowa would beat USM much worse than 21-7 too
