Don Shanks, a former State football player and a 28-year veteran of SEC officiating, calls it like it is:

cowardice yes certainly at all levels in the nfl, that's why the cheating in this game won't be addressed. How do you have 3 officials on the field from the local area of one of the teams? no there is no preference for the big market teams.

Actually he didn't call it like it is. Anybody who doesn't call for the referee crew being fired didn't really watch the call. That goes for Mr. Shanks and Mr. Cleveland. What profession allows this type of negligence to persist? Certainly not at any job I've ever worked at. A doctor, engineer, or architect would be sued for millions for this type of negligence, and they would lose. These refs have to be terminated if the NFL wants people to believe that they want to improve the product. There is no other answer.

And if these refs had any character at all, they would have all submitted their resignation last night.

After watching SEC officiating for the last 15 years I was unfazed seemed like a typical Saturday around these parts. Saints fans can now feel the pain of getting screwed by the Zebras.

There's a sideline video going viral of the the field judge right in front of the play waving it off as incomplete and motioning to the other field judge to stay in his place and not to talk to him about the play.

Find the other angle ref is talking to Sean Payton running on the field. That at least is not malicous. But yeah throw the damn flag.

17 IT. The NFL needs to have them play the game over again. Simple as that. If the NFL didn't take the initiative and stop the game to make sure they got this called right, in the moment, then 17 it. Play it again. I mean, this is a clear cut 17 up. It 17ed up the damn superbowl for 17s sake. There are zero excuses for not getting the most crucial play in the NFC championship exactly correct. They have refs all over the field, everyone in the entire NFL is watching this game unfold, and you are telling me no one had the balls to stop the game and have a ref conference on the play with the eye in the sky talking in their ears to make sure this was called correctly. 17 Lord, its only the NFC championship game and the clearest cut pass interference call in the history of the forward pass.

Goodell has the power as NFL commish to immediately review the film with the NFL's head of refs and rules czar, stop the game before end of regulation and then tell the refs it's 1st and goal at the 5 yard line for the Saints with a 1:49 on the clock and, by the way, knock off the bullshit. He has the power to do that. But, he's a weak coward that's proven his incompetence many times over.

foul forward. In any event it's a travesty. People that think this was just a game are idiots. No, calls like this affect a team history and it's players legacies. Think about Ben Watson. It was his last game. That's a hell'uva way to have your career end. Granted Drew Brees is going to make the HOF but what if the Saints had won and won the Super Bowl. Winning multiples Super Bowls is quite an accomplishment.

And don't forget that Roger Goodell's annual salary is $40 million per year, with the use of a private jet.

That entitled scumbag could relinquish some of that money to get referees as full time instead of these 40-hour/week regular job guys that travel to game sites on the weekends.

No idea why owners agreed to pay him that. The nfl sells itself. They could get the same results money wise for much less per year imo

Everyone knows he has the power to do it, but I knew when the rule was shown that it wasn't going to happen. It won't ever happen..Why? logistics and cost would outweigh just pissed off fans.

two teams are already preparing for the Super Bowl. So then the NFL would have front the cost of flying the Rams back to New Orleans, and back to Las Angeles. Then if the Saints did end up winning the game, then it would affect preparations by both the Saints and the Patriots. Next both teams would want to stay in the cities preparing for the game instead of heading to Atlanta on time to do required appearances that come with being in the Super Bowl.

Saints fans want to play the what if game of, well if it was called we probably win the game.

What if on the very next play the Saints fumble and Rams recover, you would probably have the same result.

No, no, no.

Goodell had the power to reverse that call BEFORE end of regulation. It's too late when the game is over. This is the time when the NFL commish earns his 40mil a year. But, I'm sure he's having lunch with Belichick this week telling him how the refs will be looking out for him on Feb. 3rd.

That is your assumption. It might have been a knee, but it could have been a bad center/qb exchange. You never know what would have happened.

This is a fake rumor being spread all over. Although 3 officials in that game were from cali, none of them played for the Rams. The guy they are claiming did play for the Rams was not an official in that game.
