That 3rd Q was maybe the worst I've seen our women play the whole year. Terrible defense giving up lay up after layup. Georgia shot about 90% that Q.

Alright. End of the 3rd quarter. TM put up a layup, went off yhe iron and out of bounds. They didnt reset the shot clock so we couldnt hold for last shot. Bibby airballs a quick 3. GA holds for last shot and sinks it. MSU up 2 with the 4th quarter about to start. Why did the shot clock not get reset?

Yep, its like watching GA run a pregame layup drill. They are just pulling McCowan out from under the basket and then going right to the goal. Surprised more teams haven't used that strategy against us.

On another note, he needs to find an answer to our defense when Mc gets pulled out of the paint. Right now it is layup city and we could easily shut that down with our 6'8" center playing under the basket. Surely he sees that a good team is going to take us to the wood shed with hiw Mc works the screen, can't get back, and picks up useless fouls 22 feet from the basket.

Yeah....I have a hard time seeing us getting back to the Final Four. We could....but just hard to see it unless somebody goes smooth off the rest of the season to make up for V.Vivians production. So far, I haven't seen anyone fill Vivians shoes. I was hoping Bibby might be the one, and she showed tonight she is capable, but still is not as consistent as V.Vivians. I didn't see Jessika Carter tonight, but I missed most of the first half. Did she play? Figured Vic might put her in for a little bit since she is from Georgia. Oh well, we focused when it counted the most down the stretch. And survived. UGA played pretty well IMO. Made us find out something about ourselves when they went ahead by 3 in the 4th quarter.

I agree that zone needs to be looked at, but if we just park her down in the lane then they're gonna screen us and be able to shoot uncontested 15 footers all game. So if we're going to play man McCowan will continually have to come out and guard. A matchup zone would probably be the best thing to try, but that takes months to be able to run effectively. I'll leave this one to Vic. He knows defense about as good as anyone in college basketball so if anyone can scheme to figure it out, he can.

He moved out of the press the last 6 minutes, thus changing the D up a little and we won. I have all the confidence Vic will continue working on this and it will be fixed.... Still don't expect him to ever use the zone though.
