Guy that's the color analyst for the chargers and an NFL Network analyst said the following names are being thrown around for NFL jobs:

Matt Rhule
Kiffin Kingsbury
Brian Kelly
Dan Mullen

How insane would it be if Mullen left Florida after 1 year for an NFL gig. I'll be interested to see if he interviews for one. NFL isn't nearly as tight lipped about job interviews as college is.

He and Dak would win multiple Super Bowls in Dallas.

How in the world is Kingsbury on that list?

It would be hilarious if Mullen left for the NFL. I think he would do well since you don't have to recruit.

His offense is very much dependent on a running qb though. He'd have to change a lot of his philosophy

True his offense as is wouldn't work every week unless you had a lot of QBs on the roster.

I have often wondered why some NFL coach has not tried this. There are plenty of "athlete" QBs that the rest of the NFL does not want and the other team would have to prepare for a completely style of defense for that one or two weeks of the season.

Baltimore is doing it now

Florida is not exactly tanking in recruiting. Are you saying Mullen was right in saying the name on the jersey recruits itself?

I could go to UF tomorrow and probably get a top 25 class. Yes, certain schools have a huge advantage in recruiting. Mullen didn't take the same coaches and all of the sudden become a better recruiter.

He's not exactly lighting it on fire either. In his first full cycle, he's not even close to the level Florida recruited at when they were winning championships in the late 00's. You can say he hasn't enough time to build a base and relationships yet, but that can work both ways.

Danny two gloves isn?t even recruiting on the same level the Shark F*cker was. Let that sink in.

Avg rating per recruit at Florida...
2015 = .8726
2016 = .8872
2017 = .8911
2018 = .9075
2019 = .8987

If Mullen closes out this class with Chris Steele, he'll probably have his avg per recruit in low 90 which is better than his predecessor

Mullen would fail in the NFL faster than Chip Kelly if he tried to run his offense.

Do class ranks. Curious.

ETA: Bc it looks like they were top 5 every year when urban was winning natties. FLA is 17 now.

Since State7 is slacking on you and didn't actually answer your question (like you didn't already know that McE and Muschamp coached at FL after Urban ... SMH)

2002 - 10th
2003 - 1st
2004 - 5th
2005 - 12th
2006 - 2nd
2007 - 1st
2008 - 5th

I'm very underwhelmed with 7's performance in answering the question ****

That's exactly right. The mentions of his name being associated with openings will only get earlier and earlier into the season from here on out

Yes I did. My math skills suggest than a 14.67 average is better than 17 which is DM?s first full class. Last class was not all his recruiting. And even if you average that class 15.5 is still higher than 14.67

Anyone care to help verify these averages? The math is pretty complicated.

This class isn't finished yet though. Avg rating per player has always been one of my favorite ways to judge a class. Moorhead's avg rating per player this year is better than any Mullen class right now

If Kelly leaves ND, isn't that Mullen's dream job or am I mistaken????

I don't think he would get it, nor do I think he leaves FL anytime soon - just curious since we endured 6 years of him constantly looking around.

Interesting enough Kelly is paid less than Moorhead is currently. $2.1 Mil per year. Not sure if he has some other pay due to ND being private.

If we look at classes that only each coach solely recruited Mac has 11 and 12. DM currently has 17. DM?s first class was largely recruited by previous staff. As to Mac?s worst class his first year was recruited mainly by muschumps staff.

But the post immediately before rouge by thf24 was what turned this into a recruiting thread and it said dan was not recruiting at Urbans natty level.

Well no crap. If you wanna recruit at Urban's level, your name has to be nick, Kirby, or jimbo

I think people throw out dream job loosely now. I know for a fact that ND is Urban's dream job, he had it in his contract while at FL that if the ND job accepted that job there was no buyout. Of course there a rumors that Penn St. is Mullen's dream job. I think with coaches there are many places that are dream jobs.

I would love to have be the head coach in no particular order..

ND

Thanks. I suppose I confused Urban's wish list to Mullen's. Again, I don't think he leaves FL anytime soon. I do think if the ND job opens, it creates all sorts of musical chairs/dominoes.
