If that’s a good call then call every hold Iowa’s OL is doing to our DL. We were dominating them every drive until that 84 yard TD pass. What changed? I guarentee you they are doing the same damn thing. No way they are keeping Simmons and Sweat from getting in the backfield unless doing something similar. You can keep your hands inside which is what Champion did. If that gets called, call the same damn thing on Iowa.

He’s never been able to read defenses. Ever. With the defense we have, we are still in this game but the refs need to stop calling penalties every time we make a big play. Usually these things happen in cycles. Iowa will get screwed in the second half. The refs will start calling shit on them.

My issue mainly is lack of rythm our offense ever gets. Always feels like an all or nothing scheme. Miss the methodical Mullen drives

It doesn’t help when you have a fifth year senior who can’t read a defense and can’t throw accurately. No offense can survive that or get into any rhythm. I’ve said this until I’m blue in the face. This offense is all on the QB from the pre-snap reads to understanding what RPO to go with post snap to going through your progessions to understanding when to take off vs throw it away. It’s a lot to take in and Fitz ain’t the QB for this offense.

Agree, right now I like Moorhead much better as a person than a coach. His offense has been hot garbage against any team with a decent defense. Shoop's defense is the primary reason we got to 8-4. Finishing this year at 8-5, if that is what happens, is still an overall disappointment and I expect us to be worse next year.

And to be fair our WRs have been the definition of unreliable as well. Osirus cost us the Fla game and Guidry outside of a few plays has been a complete disappointment. Recruit rankings should indicate that we have some talent at the position but the play on the field is hard to watch. I'm not sure if it's more the player or the coaching.

Mullen’s offense is a run first spread. Fitz thrived there because he came from a triple option offense. He still sucked throwing the ball but it’s easier to make a 5-10 yard pass then the intermediate to long pass plays Moorhead’s offense requires. What sucks though most is Mullen actually is breaking out of that a little at Florida because he has speedier better receivers this year. He could have had that kind of offense here too but his lazy recruiting on receivers got the better of him over his 9 years here so he just chose to run the football most of the time. He easily could have put together great receivers and had a more balanced spread and probably could have won at a higher level here and we wouldn’t have such a bad rap on receivers.
