When I came here 1.5 years ago I had something in common with you all. I hated Ole Miss. I still do. They are a poor man's Aubarn, and they even frick that up.

I like MSU as a program. I really do. For the most part, MSU tries to do things better than most. You guys still cheat, but not to the level of Ole Miss and AU. You keep it to a manageable level, and I like that in a program, but it does make me question your commitment.

Also, y'all ain't never bothered nobody. Your "best/most talented team" just finished with 4 losses. For me to ever dislike MSU, you'd have to first give me a reason. You don't beat BAMA, you don't get in our way recruiting, and you piss the hell out of Ole Miss. Hating MSU would be somewhat on level with hating Vandy. But shoot, at least Vandy gives me a reason with their stellar academics. So hating MSU would be like hating Arnie Grape. It'd be mean spirited and not worth it.

Some of you Dawgs are good as gold. I really enjoy some of the posters here and it's because of you I've enjoyed my time here at ED. I have read a lot more than I've posted.

Most of you had no clue who Quinnen Williams was coming into the BAMA game this season and Q was projected a top 5 draft pick coming into the game. If you're going to make claims like "State has the best defense/defensive line in the SEC", you may want to at least know who plays for the other team.

"Fitz is better than Tua". LOL!!!

"Abram is the best safety in football". Guys, he may be the 3rd best safety in his division at best.

Preseason JoMo was the GOAT and State was going to walk through everyone but BAMA, and that's with a first year head coach.

My faves were how Kirby was taking over the SEC and Bammer was "finished". The dynasty was over! Saban couldn't recruit or coach anymore, and Kirby and UGA were going to take our spot. Well, how'd that work out? Blind hatred makes a fool of even the wisest men.

Economically, I'm all about capitalism at the highest level but this is a completely different arena. Every sport in the world has measures put in to ensure some sort competitive balance but college sports and, due to that, TV execs and fans get blowouts most weeks which serves nobody's interest.

I like MSU as a program. I really do. For the most part, MSU tries to do things better than most. You guys still cheat, but not to the level of Ole Miss and AU. You keep it to a manageable level, and I like that in a program, but it does make me question your commitment.

You are 100% right. They'll revert back to Alabama 1983-2006. Which is honestly pretty good as a whole- but not good enough for them. No one is going to want to be the guy to follow Saban.

The thing is I would imagine a lot of their "fans" are really "SEC football fans". Meaning they didn't go to any SEC school- probably the more educated ones went somewhere more local like South Alabama or USM- not that there is anything wrong with that. And I would imagine that quite a few have LSU stuff from back in the early 2000's, a Tim Tebow jersey or two, and maybe even some Auburn stuff to go along with their Alabama stuff.

The bad thing about it is most of those fans tend to be the ones that talk the most about how awesome their "team of the year" is and run smack. If I was an Alabama alum I would be pretty ashamed and embarrassed much like most MSU fans are embarrassed by Stingray. I understand that smack is part of it but it's pretty rich coming from people that didn't attend a particular school. And ironically less of the smack comes from people that actually attended the school and thus have more of a tangible connection to the school.

I actually agree that Alabama being so dominant isn't really that good for the SEC. It basically causes lack of interest. And then when you throw consistently questionable officiating on top of everything else- it makes it almost like watching wrestling. When we played Alabama this year I didn't care that much because I knew that we were either going to get blown out or play hard and really well but then screwed by the officials. And that's exactly what happened. The only good thing is the media is starting to point it out- and if it keeps going eventually the reputation of the league will be compromised. If Alabama is that good- why do they need so much help? And why is that good for the SEC? Is Georgia not worthy to represent the league?

I also don't get the media love for Tua. It's kind of weird how ESPN and CBS latch on to certain players.

Anyway- back to your point. As long as Saban is there the SEC is going to give them a lot of love and there's not really anything anyone can do about it until he retires. Hopefully as far as us we will be in a good position as a program to win our share after the Saban era ends. Whenever that will be. Probably after he passes Bear Bryant in National Titles. Which he would do if he wins it all this year. And that would also tie him with the Bear for the most at Alabama. The Bear has 321 wins to Saban's 231 at the time as well. So, he's 92 away from that if that's what he is going for. In this era I would guess it would take him 8-10 years to better that which would put him around age 75-77 to break that. I'm just not sure what his personal goals are.

I live 5 miles from the bama state line. Their fans feel entitled and can't stand it because other fans don't worship at their feet. The sidewalk fans and "MS. fans" are worse. There are more bama fans in my NE MS county than MSU and UM combined. Most of their vehicles must be held together by the 5 to 10 bama stickers on them.

This. The reputation of the SEC is already compromised and has been for years to much of the country outside the SEC and us SEC programs who refuse to "know our place". bama is a great program and doesn't need any other help. SEC officiating is terrible, (from Dick Pace to today).

I'm sure we have some sidewalk fans. But we definitely have fewer than most teams in the SEC. And probably a good many of those go to school at USM.

I do agree with you about MSU fans being bad about tearing MSU down and talking up the other school. Especially in football. I'd bet that we are the only SEC school that has at least one person on a message board "We gotta be careful with Samford because they gotta a good quarterback and I remember that one time we lost to Maaainee." Heck- our fans still talk about Tech and 10 and losing to Houston 74-0 to this day.


I think part of our fans problem with that is the MSU internet culture has made it "cool to be objective" to the point where a lot of times our fans actually end up belittling our program. Unintentionally. And I don't think that there is any SEC school that does that.

Heck, we got penalized more than we should have as recently as 2012 with Will Redmond. At the same time Ole Miss has gotten on probation as well and their program is a dumpster fire right now. Why would MSU fans want to imitate that? So we can win a Sugar Bowl just to vacate it and have to suffer for approximately five years of bad football? Or we can continue to win about 9 games a year as we have done every year since 2014 except for 2016 knowing that we are eventually going to likely break through to the point where our ceiling is now 12-0 and our floor is starting to become 9-4. I would absolutely take that long term compared to where both Ole Miss and Auburn are right now.

Ths egg bowl is indeed highly important for multiple reasons. Fans like me get think good things about it on occasion for the next 365 days as opposed to that gut punch feeling for one.

I've been hoping we could take over and monopolize MS but it just never happens due to shitbird tobacco lawsuit money and shitbird cheating. All things equal, we out do shitbird every day of the week and twice on Sunday without them cheating. Shitbird, on a level playing field, cannot compete with us or any other legit team for quality players.

If we could overcome shitbird and their cheating, we could have a program close to the same level as LSU.

Shitbird knows this. This is why they are lying about us regarding their probation. They will continue to try to destroy us by any means necessary. We on the other hand want them destroyed too but we don't have to take action like they do cuz they do it to themselves.
