That's why it is so important for us to show up. That's the only way for us to change that perception with this particular bowl. We may not have as many fans as most of the SEC schools- but I also think they are underestimating how well we travel.

Remember you can't spell OutBack without UT.

Imagine being a UF fan over the past 20 years, and every 4 seasons your team is assigned the Outback Bowl (5x during that 20-year timeframe). it's different if it's the Sugar (or the playoffs) b/c that means your team has won the SEC. A "been-there, done-that" mentality would quickly set in, which falls squarely on the SEC office's shoulders due to not sending UF or UGA to the Cotton Bowl and more west teams to Tampa.

No wonder the Outback's attendance has fallen off, especially when 3 teams have monopolized the SEC share (65% of the time it's either SCe, UGA or UF).

I think we have not taken a backseat to any school as far as attendance to our bowl games, simply for the reason to counter the perception that we don't or can't travel well, if nothing else.

Pretty sure the Cotton Bowl and Outback bowl were basically the east/west equivalent at one time, so the Cotton bowl was heavy representation from the West, and Outback heavy from the East. Not to say the Outback didn't particularly want to skip us, but they basically havae taken the east teams and Auburn (which is basically better than several east teams as far as proximity), and then when they can't do that, Alabama and LSU once each.

I've been boycotting Outback for years, but not because of us not being invited to that bowl. Their crappy food was my reason.

Sixth time in 24 seasons an SEC west team has been. Half of those are Auburn, which is the eastern-most SEC West team. Mizzu has also not been.

What year was we got so pissed at not being invited to Tampa that many of our fans tried to boycott Outback? Can't remember the exact circumstances. But we wuz robbed.

That was 1999. A 7-5 Georgia team went over us. We still got the peach though.

For years when it was 12 teams in the league and before the SEC got bowl ties in Houston and Charlotte the bowl pecking order was the Outback and Cotton somewhat shared the pick after the Citrus , it would go

Sugar
Citrus
Outback / Cotton
Chick-fil-a
Then they would somewhat pool the Music city , Liberty, Independence and Birmingham

This created a trend where in most cases the Cotton would take a West team and the Outback would take an east team. I still remember that Auburn team in 2010 getting the Outback invite . They were 7-5 in chiziks first year and really lobbied hard to get that invite over a couple other more deserving teams

Yes and in the earlier years there were less spots due to fewer bowls.

Yes, but I think we were 9-2 and UGA was 7-4. Freaking travesty of justice!

Yes it was ridiculous. The outback was technically the bigger bowl but I always enjoyed watching games in the Georgia dome. I don?t know if they have given the bucs stadium a tune up but I think it was a dump back in 99

We are finally going to the Outback Bowl - Arkansas and Ole Miss have still never been, so there's that.

Arkansas has also only been to the Citrus Bowl once. Seems like that and the Outback usually take East teams. The Citrus (Capital One Bowl at the time) was one of my favorites because it was different than going to the Cotton Bowl or Liberty Bowl all the time.

Ironically we lost to a Bret Bielema-led Wisconsin team in our only trip despite holding them to like -3 rushing yards lol
