This was an article I had wrote preseason on my outlook of Iowa. Of course, things have changed but it can give you a quick look into the Hawkeye team. Hailstate!

Interesting that you predicted Iowa to go 11-1 and they finished 8-4. Many MSU fans also predicted 11-1 or 10-2 and we also finished 8-4. With a new head coach and offensive system, we ran into 3 early conference games in a row with horrible offensive execution (and some would add play calling) and MSU scored very few points. Of course, all three of those were again Top 15 teams with Top 20 defenses, and two of them were away games.

Our last several games have been much better offensively and our #1 scoring defense has only gotten stronger. Even at Alabama, where several obviously bad calls turned a 17-7 (or possibly closer) loss into a 24-0 loss. In State's last 5 games, QB Nick Fitzgerald has 11 passing TD's and 0 interceptions, plus 5 rushing TD's (last 5 games includes the game at Alabama, where Fitz had 0 TD's and 0 interceptions).

Neither one of us had any luck...
