View Full Version : Is it me or does the Egg Bowl seem a little less bitter this year?

Maybe it's just me, but while I don't doubt our team's hunger to win this game, it seems a little less hostile between the two fanbases. Am I the only one? Should this be credited to their team being flat out bad and their fan base completely uninterested, along with our team underperforming in the opinion of the majority of our fanbase? Or maybe Mullen just had that big of an impact on the rivalry and now that he's gone it's toned down a little now?

I'll be there Thursday hopefully watching Fitz and both of our running backs combine for 300 yards on the ground and a big win.

UNM bitterness is turning inward to Luke, Longo, and McGriff. Some of them are believing (and probably hoping to a degree so they can get rid of the coaches) that we will blast them out of their stadium.

They know their team sucks ass. They can't keep us from a bowl. they can't go to a bowl.

The board might not be going as crazy, but we all want to skullf*ck them 78 and 3 knees to end the game - 0

That's understandable. Getting blown out and shut out by them is how we finally got rid of Croom.

Screw three knees. Take those three plays trying for 85.

True. just looked it up 65 pts is the record. We won 65-0 in 1915.

I don't think we shut them out but I don't think we ease up either.. so 45-10 type game.

Our defense has been on a mission all year. There will be no letup Thursday and 5-0 is gong to be running for his life. I also look for abram to knock the piss out of aj at least once. I also think Fitz is figuring it out a little and I look for him to have a big day. Could be a similar score to the arky game.

I can't see them getting rid of Luke with his Ole Miss ties probably giving him a little more leeway. I do think that they will turn over the coordinators.

By the way- was McGriff coaching with the Saints during Bounty Gate a few years ago?

Luke is just a place holder. He will be let go this time next year

I agree. And after the third year Freeze rose from the dead.**

Freeze is never coming back to be a head coach Div 1. The second he comes back, surely someone from the media will ask who were the escort phone calls actually for? Now I do not like Freeze, ut I find it hard to believe those calls were for his pleasure. That would be the absolute first question out of my mouth, backed up with cities visited and recruits in those areas. Just saying. No idea why this hasn't been asked. Or atleast a really good timeline around phone calls and commits. If he comes back, some young journalist will start digging.

It's Moorehead, he's purposely not emphasizing the rivalry tension. Mullen took it to another level similar to Jackie Wayne.

If you think it's less hostile, google Nafoom, hatred is alive and well there.

Pretty sure he was with the Saints the year or two after that

I told my 20 year old son the same thing. It is less heated before the game this year than it has been in a long time.

Yep.....I said from the day he was hired.....he was just the probation coach. Once they get through their penalties, they will start looking for a real coach.

They may be afraid that we will hurt their players if they run too smack on us. They know what last year was all about- and they don't want to be repaid in kind.

Not just that but I was told they had no interest in the job from up and comers. It was re-treads or D 2 coaches. After the egg Ross and Vitter decided to take the interim tag off Luke.

They may be quiet now. But it will be ugly as ever. It always is in oxford. Expect a little extra spicy with Brown playing his last game there.
