I wonder why we don't fair catch

I'm not sure on this but when we field a kick off we always run it back and usually come up short of the 25 yd line. Why don't we just fair catch it and start at the 25? It would give us better field position.

It would, but sometimes taking a shot on the big play is a good thing.

Amen on the fair catch. The percentage of something bad happening is wayyyy higher than something extraordinarily good happening when you return it.
