So this is making the rounds on social media up here. This apparently happened in a game last night. Wait for it...

That POS should face criminal charges. You can't assault someone just because you are playing a sport

Umm, that kid should be suspended for several games. He was embarrassed for losing and throwing up an airball so why not take out the kid who was guarding you.

According to Twitter, not only has this guy been suspended indefinitely, but he has also been BANNED FROM CAMPUS.

Good for Fitchburg State.

Saban may hire him as a consultant

I saw a player from one of the small Tennessee schools, Tech I think, try to do that to his COACH at the Hump back when Richard Williams (maybe very early Stans) was coaching. The guy already had got a tech for something and was going off on the court. When his coach came out to help restrain him he tried to deck the coach. He connected, but not full on. He obviously got ejected but it took cops to get him off the floor. I think he was thrown out of the school when they got back. My Dad was an old coach, he said the guy would have been walking back to wherever they were from if he had been his coach.

If Saban was coaching Fitchburg State the kid on the ground would have been assessed a foul and Fitchburg would have shot free throws. In the postgame Saban would have complained about all the opponents who keep ramming their face into his players forearms.

This. We let certain athletes get by with way too much on the field of play. If you punch someone or assault someone then misdemeanor criminal charges should follow. In many cases it would be tough to prove intent but in THIS case it is really obvious. Same with the Alabama player that was punching the opponent caught on camera. That isn't football...that's just assault.
