I thought it was Rob Skelton that threw the flag for a block in the back, but a 247 article says it was the field judge, Jeff Batts. I'd like clarification as well. Worst officiated game I've ever seen as a MSU fan. Bama just so happened to be the only P5 team to play Saturday without a single penalty called on them, but their O-line was holding on to our D-line for dear life.

It had to be the side judge because that is his responsibility and position on the field along with the field judge who lines up deep in the defensive secondary. The side judge is responsible for goal line plays that cross the defensive teams goal line.
