View Full Version : 1st Playoff Rankings come out Tuesday... Where do we land??

Based on resumes, games today, and who we lost to I say we land somewhere around 18-20.

We lost to 3 teams currently in top 15, and are most likely the best 5-3 team after today. A lot of teams ranked 10-25 lost today and now have a 5-3 record, against lesser competition.

For as much of a shit show the UK, Fla and LSU games were, we are still looking at being close to a Top 15 team. Defense is the main reason, but this season was not as far off from the 10+ wins most of us expected, myself included.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we aren’t 22-25. Majority of those teams lost Saturday.

Solid theory. I hadn’t thought about that. I was thinking we don’t sniff it but 20-25 would make sense.

I'm going #24 or #25. Bama needs another "ranked" team to pad it's resume this year.

Don't know about us, but that KY team we feel so bad about losing to is about to be in the top 10.
I hate we lost and definately think we could have won, but they are GOOD!

By my count there are only 20 P5 teams with 0-2 losses, including a couple we should be ahead of like Syracuse, Virginia, and NC State.

I don't think there are any 3-loss teams who will be ahead of us (maybe Washington, but the Committee will probably put them behind Auburn and Auburn behind us), so we will almost certainly be ranked. Our 3 losses have a combined 4 losses (2 of which are to each other), and we have wins over Texas A&M and Auburn, who are vying for those 21-25 ranking themselves.

And we'll be ranked because we deserve it and have earned it, not because it's some con$piracy to prop up LSU and Alabama.

We just landed at 21 in both voter polls and we all have seen how the committee values strength of schedule more than the poll voters. Look at polls from today there is no reason we don?t have the 15-20th best resumes at the moment. You think the committee is going to rank Utah, Utah State, Iowa, Fresno State, and Huston all ahead of us?

The responses saying we won?t even be in the top 25 simply are not paying attention to anything at this point, and throughout the season.

This. They're going to want us ranked when we play bama. We be 20-25 and when we win next Saturday we will be 18-20 because they'll want bama to play a top 20 matchup. That being said if you watch any other college football you know we should be in top 25

I?d say look at the 6 teams between us and top 15 and make an argument that any are actually better than we are. I do not see any who can make that argument.

ETA: believe it was last year we were ranked in the 20-25 range in both polls with losses to auburn and Georgia. First playoff rankings came out and we were 16 in CFP poll.

I agree. When watching the rest of cfb compared to us and the sec you start understanding how good we are and how good the teams we play are.

The CF play off committee has always been good to us. Two of our three loses were to top 15 teams on the road and the other was to another highly ranked team. We will be 21 or better.

Just pains me to think a play or two here and there and we are 6-2 or 7-1 right now sitting in top 12. Sucks to think what might have been.

Well you should, since they directly determine who goes to the NY6 bowls -- it won't really matter for us this year (unless we beat Bama), but it could in a future year.
