They all think it's a low scoring game and LSU wins but there was some hesitation as they tried to justify their pick.

Dez pointed out we have the #1 scoring defense in the country and the #1 rushing offense in the SEC.

They also pointed out Moorhead said he will try and pass early to get Nick confidence. If somehow we get a couple of good passes on LSU's DBs early in the game we might just blow up Aranda's game plan.

I totally disagree with this statement. Last year we beat LSU and threw 23 times, with 48 rushes. If we run 70 plays, I can live with 20/50. Heck we threw 17 times against Auburn two weeks ago.

Last year we ran/passed 634/353. So per game we ran 49 times and threw 27 times.

Here is what I'm saying:

If we have a lot of 3 and outs and struggle to move the ball, we will run very few plays, and we will get our ass kicked. That will result in us throwing it more than 16 times in order to attempt to come back.

If we establish the run and move the ball the way that I would like to, then we run 70 plays. And I think if you run 70 plays, we will throw 20 times. When we control the clock and RTGDF, it results in a lot of snaps.

I don't think we can win with a 50/50 run/pass mix. I also don't think we can win running 50 plays.

Let me put it this way. If we run 3 plays and punt (3 passes and 0 runs), then I'm pissed. But if we have a 15 play scoring drive that is 4 passes and 11 runs then I'm happy and like the ratio, even though we threw it more times than in the first example (3 passes the first drive versus 4 passes on the second drive).

It's not about number of pass plays, it's about run/pass ratio.

Exactly. Fitz isn't a great passer, that's a given. The other thing though, is that he has trouble making decisions on the fly. Mullen figured that out in his first start against South Alabama. He disguised it after that. Joe's scheme is dependent on at least a decent passer, but even more on a QB that can think in the fly. That ain't Fitz, and never has been.

Last year LSU sucked. We didn't light up Bama last year. The D kept us in the game and Mullen was really good at disguising what Fitz is. Mullen may be an elite coach.

I'm saying his scheme was well suited to what Fitz is. Moorhead is more what the people who hated Mullen wanted. It very well may work, but not against good defenses with our current QBs.
