I was looking for parking information for the game this weekend and noticed this tidbit:

? Recognition of former Bulldog Head Coach Sylvester Croom
? Recognition of former Bulldog Head Coach Jackie Sherrill

I remember hearing JWS was going to be there, but hadn't heard about Croom. Is this the first game he will have been back too?

JWS will be recognized as our all time winningest coach!!!! He should also be recognized as the greatest in our history.
I have no idea why Croom is coming. We should welcome him back though. Nice guy.

Statistically true, but JWS proved that we could compete for SEC championships today. So JWS is and will always be my favorite.

I just realized that our last 6 head coaches will be at the game:

Felker
Sherrill
Croom
Mullen
Knox (1 game counts since it was a win)
Joe

Bully13
09-25-2018, 09:38 PM
It may be petty if indeed Cohen is doing this primarily due to Mullen's return and not pure coincidence. (yeah, I know UUGE benefit of the doubt given)

Mullen himself is not immune to pettiness however. "We'll never lose to this school again" was something I was never a fan of. Too skrong. "TSUN" was pretty cool as I continue to use that one myself repeatedly. An old Woody Hayes re-make Woody used when referring to Michigan.

JWS will always be "The Kang" for obvious reasons. But no one will EVAH break Sly Croom's record of "Crooming" opposing head coaches. The best thing that could have ever happened to MSU football would have been Sly being SEC head coaching material. Damned shame he wasn't.

Just did a little online search, why on earth did Dudy Noble fire Mckeen? He has a .747 winning percentage at MSU and never had a losing season.

Also, even though he was only at MSU for two seasons and went 6-4 both seasons Darrell Royal has to be at least mentioned. He went on to make Texas a powerhouse at the time, won 3 national titles and 11 conference titles at Texas.

According to my Grandfather- pressure from alumni who wanted him to change his offense.

McKeen did it here, Royal didn't.

The success or lack there of MSUs program has everything to do with the resources in close proximity rather than Allen McKeen being fired.

Small state, little money, politics with OM and Alabama just down the road stealing recruits and fans are the issues. Sure a good coach can make an impact but there is a ceiling there.

Jackie Parker is also in the COF. McKeen was also inducted because his overall record with MSU and Memphis (West Tennessee at the time). He also was director of the blue and gray game. Side note is his wife died the day after he was inducted into the Hall
